R50/53 will an 08 convert suspension fit in an 05 s?
Both cars are gen1, and gen1 suspensions are generly interchangeble, except on a few of the earlist cars. One tip...the springs (oem ones anyway) used on a mini are calculated based up the cars exact weight, including options (mostly sunroof/transmission/hardtop), so swapping the springs might not be a good idea, but shocks/struts if lightly used might be ok.
gen1.
the cabrio, built on the r50/r53 platform continued in production for 2 more years after the gen 2 was introduced...the cabrio is called the r52, and was built till the 2009 was introduced as a gen2. Confusing, sure, but the 2 year delay was caused due to the extra engineering needed to make a ragtop (thats what it was attritubuted too anyway).
OK i am more confused now. do you mean nope it dont fit? i have an r53. will the r52 suspension fit my r53. can someone reply back with a yes the r52 will fit your car or no the r52 supsension wont fit your car.
thank you
thank you

Getting springs with the WRONG spring rate (cabrio to hard top, maybe different options=different weight) can result in a poor ride. Aftermarket springs are generaly sold based upon typical weights, but oem one are tuned (they are tested when made, then grouped in similar spring rate groups, and shipped to the appropriate car). That is why the dealer needs a vin# to order springs.
almost 100% of non trim cabrio gen 1 parts are compatible with the gardtop and viseversa...one exception is the exhaust on the s, it was changed on all 2005+ s cars to fit an extra brace added to the cabrio...that is why the jcw exaust has a pre 2005, and a post 2005 part number(there is a slight crimp in the pipe where it passes the support added to it), so in that case the new part is backward compatible.
back to the op's question...they will "fit", not sure they will be optimum though...ride may be choppy...
If you need a better ride than the jcw (very mild drop), you might be able to use knoi golds....
I have eibach coilovers on my car right now. But the person that wants to buy myh car wants the factory springs. He doesnt want it lowered. so I am pulling the factory springs out and putting in the 2008 if it fits. so thats why i want to know if it will fit.
so should i buy the 2008 convertible springs and shocks to put in my r53? will it fit?
