I ordered my car over the summer, it was built but
apparently did not pass the quality control standards
at the plant so it was rejected and my order deleted.
The plant did not build another one to complete the
order and did not inform my dealer. The plant dropped
the ball, I feel my dealer/MA also dropped the ball by
not keeping track of my order. When I started complaining
to the dealer that my car was already built but unable to
track they (after at least two weeks) started to investigate.
So 7 weeks after my order was botched I told the dealer
I could not wait another two months for a car, they apologized
and said that had never happened before and so I'm
getting me deposit back. I'm not going to throw the dealer
under the bus by naming them, there may be more to the
story than I was told and maybe another car was ordered
and built for me after the dealer found the problem and they
were hoping I would wait but i can't so I had to "settle" for
a 2004 VW GTI. Its also a great car but its a different car too.
So I'm bummed about the MINI and maybe down the road
I'll try it again.

Sad story. A question though. If you were willing to buy a GTI off the lot, why didn't you pursue a MINI from one of the dealers who advertise on this site and can deliver anywhere? I know its fun to build and order the exact MINI you want and have have them build one for you, but if I had to settle, I'd settle for a MCS off the lot over a VW.

Welcome,

g3 has it exactally right. I'll bet that something close to what you want is on a lot somewhere. I would take any MCS over any VW any day. But that's just me.

Look around and see who has what and I'll bet your dealer would help you out even if they don't get the sale.

Good luck.

p.s.

Why not post here what your are looking for and where you are and I will call the dealers for you and see who has the closes to your dream.

Well, if i couldn't have a MINI, a GTI would be a great second choice. My big problem with those is that they cost so much more.

I ordered a DS/DS MCS with HK only, none of the other
packages, just a plain MCS with a good stereo for MSRP
at $21,???. Just bought a house so $22 grand was all
I was going to spend for a car. I spent two weeks calling
other dealers looking for a solid colored MCS without
the sunroof and 17 inch wheels and the other unnecessary
options. I can read a map and follow instructions so I don't
need a navigation system. I also wasn't going to pay more
than MSRP, the car is simply not worth $25,000. So I bought
a well equipped GTI for $21 grand.

GTI is not a bad choice. my car is more than $25k off the lot.

i would not have traded it for a regular GTI. maybe a R32
I would try the hamptons next time if i get a second mcs.
