SSK's??

I probably should have asked this prior to ordering one, but anyone have any experience with the Helix ssk? Or should I have spent the extra cash and opted for the craven Speed ssk? any info would be appreciated. Also looking into getting a set of Vmaxx coil-overs any input about them?

B&M.....actually.

The shifter stalk is lower, you can still use a Whalen Shift knob or any other one designed for the OEM MINI stalk, and it comes with new harder shifter bushings which elimintates the sloppy shift feeling. It will also have the proper clearance so the bottom dust cover to the bottom of the shifter box bolts right back up. ( Craven's does not )

Got mine for 20 bucks on ebay auction (about 75K miles ago....), but you should be able to find one for $75 dollars easy enough.

B&M makes two kits depending on when your 1st Gen MCS was manufactured.

Can't help you on the Vmaxx. I have a JCW suspension.

If I ever change out the entire shifter , I will opt for the B&M. That being said, I have had the Helix for about 20k miles and it has been great. There is a very noticeable change in the length of the throw.

If you have an 05 or 06 B&M shifters are a bit harder to come by as they were discontinued a while back, should be able to find them for the 02-04s easily enough though. The helix one is cheap and doesnt adjust and for some that fits the bill, others want to adjust and go for the craven.
