R50/53 bonnet stipes + autobahnd
#1
So, I'm planning on retro fitting me MINI with bonnet stripes, but I have a dealer appllied autobahnd. I'm assuming the stripes would go over it. Has anyone out there done this yet? Do the stripes apply correctly? How long is the autobahnd supposed to last before needing replacement, therefore making me also remove stripes?

Well, reading between the lines, I'd say its some form of clear nose mask. Given that it is sold under a variety of names by a variety of manufacturers it's probably similar to Clearbra.
That being the case, you can apply bonnet stripes over the top of clearbra (aka Stonegard). I have done that on my MINI, and it is actually the preferred route, as installing the clearbra on top of the stripes will cause bubbles along the stripe.

>>I totally agree. All the gravel/sand that gets put down on the roads around here is murder on your paint without Clearbra. Plus the MINI's primer is white, so if you get chips it shows through pretty easily. I'm glad I have my MINI covered in 3M film (first 24" of the hood, bumper cover, headlights, mirror caps).
DaveInDenver, how does your clearbra look? Are there any installation imperfections. I was just on a test drive of an S with Logan from Schomp MINI. I asked him about the clearbra. He said that they have difficulty getting it on perfectly. As a result, it is common for there to be a few imperfections. Is this true?
