What MPG are you getting out of your R53 Mini?
What kind of city/highway MPG are you guys getting with your Mini Cooper S's (R53)?
If babied on the highway, what's the best you have ever got?
Also.....do aftermarket intakes improve MPG? I'm assuming that a 17% pulley will kill MPG? Anything else that can be done to improve an R53's MPG?
Thanks!

My AVG speed according to the onboard computer is about 26-30 mph, so keep in mind that I am not doing much highway...I get around 27 mixed.
A week ago I went on a couple hundred mile trip (round trip) and got 37.9, I was going pretty slow though...around 65 sometimes under sometimes above.
30s on the highway is not hard to achieve at all if kept under 70 (maybe 75???). The thing kicks *** when you want it to, and can get high 30s mpg if you baby it. Got the best of both worlds

Gently driven on summer blends of fuel, I get around 28-30 hwy...25 mixed...less driven hard....
tuned...Modded....
The 17% will not reduce you mpg if driven the same (it leans out the mixture like the 15, but usually not dangerously so at low/mid rpms...the power is so nice it his HARD NOT to use it.....

Morning Guys, with mostly freeway driving i was able to get 422 miles
out of a tank. running on fumes at the end, 32.8 mpg with it costing
60$ to fill up i leave for work a little bit sooner than normal and use
the criuse control as much as possible and watch the world blow by at
70 and 80+

Some of you here ... are you sure we're talking about the supercharged Mini?
Our average is not that great in town unfortunately. About 21-22mpg, 19 in the winter sometimes. On the freeway, granted doing 80, got a 31mpg.
Calculated at the pump. Miles driven divided by gallons filled.
Considering the S is rated at 23-25 in town and about 32 on the highway, I'd say we get what it is supposed to although I wish our city driving was netting something closer to 25.
The car is not driven hard.

Mine seems to be up from 21 mpg last year to around 23 mpg (city). Mixed I get around 25 mpg and yesterday mostly highway I got 29.2 mpg.
If it wouldn't have been for an accident and being stuck in stop-and-go traffic for half an hour I am quite sure I would have managed to get over 30 mpg.
Oh, these are actual mpg's. The obc usually shows 2-3 mpg more. I am always excited until I do the math... LOL

620 mile highway trip yesterday - to and from...
going to:
3,000 RPM, 8.6 gal, 302 miles -> 35.1 mpg
returning:
4,000 RPM, 11.7 gal, 312 miles -> 26.7 mpg
there is one heck of a big difference depending on speed.
mind you the trip down took 5.5 hours, and the return slightly over 4 hours...
about 65 mph is quite economical

'03 Cooper S, 32 Avg. MPG
My sweet spot is around 2-3,000 rpm for milage, and i get 31 avg., 38 hwy. but if Im going over 65mph it gets hard to keep it that high. and I baby it... gas was over $4!
Anything that makes your car run smoother will increase mpg. single best mod for overall performance in my book: lighter wheel-tire combo, no run-flats. also one of the most overlooked.
