I make such a mess everytime! Usually, it's snacks:
cookies, apples, fruit bars. I guess it's like the MINI
video production with the guy and the can of pop--
I get food all over. Eating neatly in your MINI must
take a certain talent I don't have.

God speed.

countrym Jan 20, 2004 07:44 AM

I'm bad too. I often go for lunch time motoring outings, and end up with crumbs all over the seat and floor. Shame on me!

chrisneal Jan 20, 2004 07:46 AM

It's really hard to remove the brown paper cup from a Reese's peanut butter cup without little flakes of chocolate going airborne.

Give up the apples and fruit bars but not the cookies.

I always make a concious effort to wipe my "fry-hands" on my pants before I touch anything. Now I have fry-pants. You can't let the fries get cold, right... ?

d2mini Jan 20, 2004 08:26 AM

ugh, gross! You guys need to be driving, not eating.

goin440 Jan 20, 2004 08:36 AM

>>You guys need to be driving...

Don't worry, I feel I'm much more involved when using my knees...

My problem is the hard boiled eggs. The bits of eggshell get everywhere!

goin440 Jan 20, 2004 08:45 AM

I have trouble peeling oranges. (I wipe the orange juices on my socks)

OregonCooper Jan 20, 2004 08:59 AM

My biggest problem is with BBQ chicken. The sauce sticks to the gearshift & steering wheel, and the grill stinks up the car in the winter when I have to keep the sunroof closed!

Pop, what's Pop? It's called Soda on the east coast.

Although small for beverages, the cupholders do quite well at holding melted butter for stuffed shrimp or lobster.

OctaneGuy Jan 20, 2004 09:07 AM

A few weeks ago I was trying to open up a package of cookies while making my way down south on a 2 hour drive through rush hour traffic. The package was brand new, and very tightly packed. Vacuum sealed foil on the outside, paper wrapping going lengthwise. Imagine 40 flat rectangular cookies like Saltines but retangular shaped and stacked tightly with one edge covered and the short edge exposed.

I got most of the wrapping off, and was proceeding to extract the first cookie. It wasn't going so well, as I felt it start to crumble. So I grabbed more cookies for leverage, and 50% out, they exploded!! All over me, my seats, my shift knob, my AC vents!

Ugh, I swore from then on I won't be eating those kinds of cookies again!

kenchan Jan 20, 2004 11:10 AM

i think taco's and cookies is the hardest thing to eat inside the car without making
a MESS!

but then, my wife dump a whole cup of starbucks coffee in her Infiniti the
other day. shucks! but glad it wasn't im my mini.

Awww Mr. D... Does the no-food-zone policy still apply, even if you "eat it like you stole it" ??

Seriously, (seriously??) I suspect that "No Food inna da Kar" is de rigeur for compulsive vehicle polishers n cleaners (a status to which D has admitted more than once)... All the rest of you crumb-laden, cleanliness-challenged slobs... Bon Appetit, and pass me that melted butter willya please??

This is an amusing thread,

I keep a rack of BBQ ribs on the dash at all times.

goin440 Jan 20, 2004 11:47 AM

Back to the egg thing...

I find the speedo ring handy for cracking raw eggs. If you place the outdoor skillet in front of the shifter, it all falls right in. If not, nothing the dog couldn't handle.

Also, the glove box is handy on road trips in holding chips n dip. Put the chips in the glasses pocket and poor the dip into the indentions. No worries cleaning dishes either!

i dont like eating in any car. especially in my Volvo where there are NO cup holders. When I do eat, though, I will try to have things that dont make a mess. IE, no big mac's (yuck!) becuase the lettuce and mayo-type-junk will go everywhere. So stick with a normal burger when fast food is a must (traveling).

otherwise, drinks are ok, between the legs usually... so no hot coffee for me in the car!

I'm with d-mini-ero - no eating allowed. A drink is ok.

A) I appreciate you laughing at my dumb joke. I just couldn't get the image of a rack of ribs covering the whole length of the dash out of my head.

B) I love that smiley. I think it's hypnotized me.

goin440 Jan 20, 2004 12:49 PM

My rubber mats keep the peanut shells well.

C4 Jan 20, 2004 01:09 PM

No food allowed in our cars with the rare exception of a long road trip where stopping to eat may take away valuable driving time.

Here in Florida if you leave crumbs and junk in the interior you will see roaches creeping up, so for most of the time food is forbidden

sndwave Jan 20, 2004 01:27 PM

The nacho cheese stains on my steering wheel are getting really bad. The orange I can deal with, but it’s like so sticky… You think this could be covered under the warranty?
