what's happening ....

Hi I have a MCS 05 auto tranny
I've been with it for almost a week (tomorrow I will make formal presentation  )

my problem is that sometimes the tranny works fine, other time the tranny feels sloopy ... but I don't know if its the tranny or the motor ...

computer has in memory o2 sensor fault codes, no outside temp sensor working and temp sensor fault ...

right now it has the SES light on and computer just says that the problem is the outside temp sensor ...

I cleaned the inyectors (with ultrasonic device), fixed the exhaust problems and changed the motor oil ...

any ideas???

thanks!

by the way ... in order to start the mini I have to push the pedal 1/4 and turn the key ....

if I just turn the key (like in my GLI) it makes a false start ....

is it normal???

Shouldn't have to push the pedal to start the car. I would get the o2 sensors taken care of first and temp sensor and then see if any problems can be transmission related. Normally, the auto in the "S" is pretty reliable.

Are you talking about the brake pedal? I don't have an automatic, but I thought stepping on the brake to start a car was a common safety feature in most cars.

Not sure if that is a Mini feature or not.

Not on my '06 auto. It is necessary on many other cars, 'tho.

When you say sloppy....you might be feeling the lag/retardation from the ic getting heat soaked....the hp will be reduced till the intake charge is cooled off....airflow is your friend. Stop and go, and slow movement tends to worsen it, especially on a hot/warm day, driven hard, and sometimes the fuel (octane level) can cause a bit of a lag....

found problem

Thanks for all your advice,

I checked the stuff you told me about it (o2, ic, etc..) and everything was fine ...

a week ago I was driving from the club to my house, while driving I started to hear like Air leakage when pressing the gas pedal ...

I pulled over & realize that the exhaust seal broke .... next day I took out the Cat ... this is what I found ..

After that tranny & power problems were almost solved .... I haven't find out why the car doesn't starts the first time without pressing the gas pedal ....
