If so, how well does it work?

I like my white wheels anyway.....

I haven't tried this product, but I do agree that any subtle lifestyle changes I've made to keep my MINI clean....including cleaning the wheels every two days or so....has been well worth it.

I haven't tried this brand specifically, but I've tried all kinds of wheel cleaners, including some generic cleaners. They all seem to work about the same - that is, not very well.

The best solution is to wax the wheels and wipe them down often. When I wash the car, I use a 100% cotton terry cloth-covered sponge dedicated to the wheels only, the same soapy car wash solution as the rest of the car, and get in there by hand. It takes a lot of work, but it's really the only way to get all the break dust off. Brushes don't seem to work as well, and they can scratch the wheel finish. Oh, and do the wheels last so the break dust that gets into the wash solution doesn't get on the rest of the car.

OK, Tattman butts in with what I'm sure must be a familiar refrain to some of the obsessive car-washers on NAM This from the Car Care section of the site:

"Here are some tips to make washing easier:

1. Wash the tires and wheels first. If you wash the car body first, the water will dry and spot your car before you can finish washing the tires and wheels. Do not use the same wash water on your car's paint as you do your tires and wheels. Throw it out and refill your bucket."

To each their own - this works for me,
Tatt

After you get your wheels, real clean, then apply a coat of RejeX. It's like wax, but better in terms of not allowing the dust to stick to the wheels. You put it on, allow it to dry, wipe it off, then let it "cure" for 12 hours (Don't drive the car) Take a look at their web site, http://www.corrosionx.com/rejex.html Works real well on the paint too, like the rear hatch area.

Charlie:
have you put this on your MINI's paint? And does it go over the carnuba wax on the paint, or did you strip that off?
TIA

"RejeX can be used over existing wax; however, the duration of protection will be reduced as the softer underlying wax comes off comparatively quickly. There’s no reason to wax over RejeX. As we’ve already said, RejeX leaves a shinier, longer-lasting finish than wax… and the wax can't adhere well to RejeX!"

The best wheel cleaner that I have found is a product by Castrol in a purple bottle. It wont put a protective coating on... But it knocks out 2-3week old brake dust like it aint no thing!

that could come in very handy during the winter.

I just use regular car wax and apply once a month or so.
but i think people are looking for something that will prevent
brake dust to attach to the wheel in the first place....hummm...

I saw the Prestone wheel cleaner in the Febuary issue of Popular Mechanics. Perhaps it isn't in the stores yet. If I find it I'll let you know how it works. Also, the
RejeX sounds interesting.

Ditto props on the Rejex. Plus changing to EBC Greenstuff pads helps!

Hey Tatt, that's great that it works for you. I dry my car off before I even start on the wheels, so no water spots here!

Get the wheels clean and apply a coat of wax. I cleaned the wheels well, applied 2 coats of wax, and now all i have to do is simply hose them off and they come completly clean. I just then take a soft towel to them to dry em. Wax the wheels, it works like a charm and i swear by it!

The best wheel cleaner I have found is Eric, a guy here in San Diego, that comes and does inside and out as well as most detailers when he does his regular wash for $15.00.

I love a clean car but don't have the time. Maybe if I wasn't on here so much I would...
