I ordered my MC on Nov. 24 and have learned that I will have a Jan 05 production date.

Silly me assumed that was the 1st Monday in Jan (the 5th). But that didn't happen.

So what does Jan 05 really mean. (yes, I'm dying while waiting...)

 

it means you should have your car in about 6-8 weeks.

 

That's strange, Jan 5th was a Monday. I thought that the production date given was always a Friday. If you wanted to know the exact date your car rolled off the line you had to call MINIUSA. At least that's the way it was when I got mine. My production date as listed on the web fluctuated between July 26, July 12, July 19, and then back to the 26th, where it stayed. I happened to call MINIUSA on the day it was complete and waiting for transportation to the port July 23, 2002.

My car was Jan 10th Production date, i picked up on Feb. 15th

Could it mean the 5th prodction 'group'?

If they start every Fri, that would make the actual date 1/30, the 5th starting group of the new calendar year.

 

Are you sure it's not January 2005????? Production dates are always on Fridays. That means your MINI should be done on that Friday with producton starting earlier in the week. Yes, it actually takes almost a week to build your MINI. So maybe it does mean the 5th week of production like mentioned above.

My production date is also Jan 05. If you look closely at the documentation from Mini its in the format of wk/mm/yy. In others words the 5th week of Jan. I still dont have a est. production date according to both ask mini and the owners lounge. Hopefully we will have it soon.
