no big deal...I hear extremes on both sides...my driver seat is the only one with "wrinkles" like yours and at 14 months (aug 02 build/deliv in Nov 02) it is wearing fine...keeping it clean like Dennis said is paramount...

some like the plastic seats to match the plastic interior

...and since the nav system was $1200 (?)...tough choice...anybody want to trade?

>>If the leather is stretched so tight to look like Joan Rivers face, it will look plastic.

Two words: space cloth!

Not that I think leather shouldn't wrinkle, but after reading endless posts about how low quality the MINI leather seats were, I decided to go with leatherette. All your leather replacements are going to end up the same way. If you don't like it now, you'll never like it.

Since when wrinkled seats are a show of character? Well whatever that floats your boat. For $1,300, MINI should fit the cars with REAL aromatic CONNOLLY leather like in Jaguars.

Until then, my Vinylette seats will continue to be my top upholstery of choice.

I checked an MC with Cordova beige leather on the build a MINI section of MINIUSA. It looked considerably more wrinkled than any of the pictures of wrinkled leather I've seen posted. Looks like MINI is trying to tell potential buyers something.

"It may be leatherette, but it's smooth"

In retrospective, I think I would have passed on the $1,300 + tx the leather
costs. However, the upside is I get the lumbar and the neat blue inserts
My lower back on-and-off has problems (usually mountain biking or weight lifting
induced!), I like the added support they give.

I have noticed, however, the leather seems to be pretty positive on resale.
While is good, because my MCS will be in my possession for only 4-5 years anyhoo...

And if I keep her longer, I'll be ripping out the current seats and putting in
Sparcos anyhoo (to turn her into a track car

cheers,

-Matt
