R50/53 OK November Owners,,,How many miles do you have now?
So for all you I can't Wait for November Owners, how many miles are now on your "baby"?
I'm at 600 and I'm trying to force myself out of the office. (I work out of the house). I will probably be March before I break the breakin period. But boy does she want to run

picked up October 28th, have just over 5,000 miles!! WOO HOO! I am the weiner!
That is with a 100mile round trip commute 4 times a week and one 500 mile road trip. Hopefully I will soon be moving closer to work.
But I must report that there has been the first sad tragedy of the CWFNC...
SONA HAD A FLAT TIRE!! Yes, it's true. What a terrible mess my poor baby was in. It was a sorry way to start her new year. Yesterday when driving on the other side of town I notice the tire alarm light flash on, so I pull over and sure enough it looks low. I go the gas station and put in some air in hopes of my runflats getting me the rest of the way home. But lo and behold, there must be a HUGE puncture because air just comes gushing out! I know we're supposed to be able to drive on runflats but it was damn near impossible! That thing was sooo flat, the car was pulling to the left someting terrible... I was too freaked out to drive her home, and of course there would be no tire shop open New Year's Day.
So after about 20 minutes of stress and worrying and wondering, I remembered (ding!) MINI Roadside Assistance!! They were super helpful and had a towtruck out there in 30 minutes. They took me on a flatbed to the dealership where my darling was left overnight (in the back parking lot) and, the tow truck driver left my contact info and key in the drop box. The dealership opened at 9, but I didn't call since I knew they are ALWAYS busy and I doubted that they would even get to my car before Monday. It is the only dealership in Houston and their service dept is always busy. But by 11 am I got a call saying she was ready! Woo hoo! Good as new.
But the service slip says they "repaired" the flat... while my dad is saying they should have replaced it, being that the car is so new and the puncture was so large. Any opinions on this?? It looks ok, and everything was free of charge to me, so I'm not complaining (yet).
Hope all of the other November babies are holding up well!!

There's two ways of fixing a tire that has a puncture:
The correct way is a patch, which involves removing the tire, gluing the patch to the inside of the tire over the puncture, then remounting and rebalancing the tire.
The cheaper, faster, and not quite as good way is to plug the puncture. A plug is a little length of rope-like material covered with tar-like crud which is simply covered in glue and pressed into the puncture from the outside. There's a lot of room for error - if it's not done right, air can leak past the plug, or blow the plug out entirely!
I guess my opinion of the work the dealer did all depends on what kind of repair was performed...

good times back in the November Club remix
I just turned over 3,800 miles tonight; I picked up MM2 on October 28th.
That makes him 9 weeks and 4 days old, which means I average 56.7 miles per day. This is interesting because my commute is 24 miles round trip per day, 5 days a week. Too many Taco Bell drive-thru's? The only long distance trip I've taken with MM2 so far is to Classic MINI this past Tuesday, about a 420 mile round trip. To date I've averaged 26.7 MPG, and my economy has actually improved since the installation of the 15% pulley, intake, exhaust, ECU, etc.
I've been a member of MCO/NAM for exactly 1 year and 1 day now, and with this being my 3,467th post, I average 9.47 posts per day!

>>Thank you, friend! So is there a way for me to tell which type of repair was done? Or should I just ask?
spoonleg - I doubt that Momentum would plug a tire. Anyway just look over the tread of the repaired tire something that looks like a chunk of brown chewing gum stuck in the tread. That would be a plug. A patched tire would have no external indications.
Even if it was a plug I'm not sure that I would be too worried about it. Years ago I put about 30 autox runs on a plugged tire on an Eagle Talon. And that was truly a pig of a car.
I am pleasantly surprised that MINI covered that under warranty. That is truly good service. Glad to hear that it worked out OK.

We picked ours up on 10/21/02. We have put 38,200 miles on it in just over one year. We just ordered another Mini S that should be here in March 04. That will give us two so we won't argue over who is going to take the Mini or the Suburban.
wow thanks for all the info, guys. I will run out and check my tire later (man it is too cold outside!! brrrr!)
I'm sure they must have patched it because at the first cursory glance I saw no mucus plug (or whatever the hell you call all that technical jargon).
Wow, I am even more impressed with the service I received now that I know it isn't supposed to be covered under warranty! The tow, the repair, the overnight storage... it was all free to me! haha! I am overly impressed with my first service experience at Momentum. I will have to send my kudos to Steve!

I got my MCS on 11/18, spent 8 days in london looking at tons of other minis (there must have been at least 2 MCs for every SUV over there. What a country). Nevertheless, I've got 2200 miles and I'm totally itching to do another mod...

Hi Guys,
Good to see the club's back in action. The mileage update on our 10/28 delivered MCS is just short of 6000 mi. – 3500 or so of that is due to our round trip holiday escapades in Chicago. Needless to say, I'm glad she's only got a 4 mi. round trip to work every day
Cheers,
M
