I picked up the newest copy of EVO yesterday. The Ford Focus RS takes on the WRX, the Clio Cup, and our hero the Cooper S.

Here's the story: EVO: Northern Exposure

Dave,

Thanks for the link, when you consider the domestic competition here in the U.S., I don't think we have anything to worry about.

Fun article! Isn't it ironic that we don't get the best Fords here in the states? ) I'll be sure to write my own review when both are in the garage!
It was encouraging that the article mentioned the Mini being compliant and not bottoming out on the rough roads. From what I've read, these things are supposed to be amazing handlers and I was a little nervous about "real world" road comfort.

Astro: I wouldn't worry about real world comfort. We took my MINI on a 3600 mile road trip to canada loaded down with camping gear. It was actually a *better* car for road trips than my Jetta. Also, the MINI is my daily driver. It's a great car around town.

As ever, it takes a little while to adjust to the peculiarly unhurried nature of the Mini. Straight after the Clio, you wonder where the get up and go has gone, the supercharged engine droning its way through the rev range with what sounds like mechanical boredom.

Thought I was the only one that had this same feeling and was expecting too much from the MCS over the MC...now I hear mini is not even going to come out with a 200+hp MCS version next year...bummer....

All I can say is, if you're here in the States definitely pick up a copy of EVO. It's my pick as best car mag at the moment. Always a ton of great articles, though about cars we can't get!
