Can't tell without the brand name on it. Looks like a standard cone-type setup, but you can't tell from looking at it whether or not the filter element is of sufficient quality to keep particles out of the engine.

This is a generic open cone filter design. You don't know how well the cone filter itself will work and you don't have an enclosed airbox to keep the hot air away from your air intake filter.

Have you installed it yet? If not then you don't know how well it might fit. Might be a knock off of the K&N Typhoon.

Bottom line is that without dyno testing you do not know if this product does any good or harm. It is possible to loose HP with a bad intake.

Try giving Randy Webb from Webbmotorsports a call and see if any of his customers has gone the generic intake route.

I'd say the bottom line is "I bought this filter". To me that means you already own it and its a bit late to wonder if it is "Any Good". You also said it was for a Cooper. The one shown is for a Cooper-S... big difference... If you have an S, I'd guess this filter will be better than the oem with regards to making some extra HP. How well it filters is anyones guess.

Looks like a knock off to me... If it's performance is close to the K&N then it's at least "good".

I agree, the big question is the statement "...just bought this on eBay for the Cooper." For a Cooper it's not good.

Looks iffy, but for the $40 the guy was selling it for, you really can't lose. I personally went with Mini Pilo's intake. He uses the Green cone filter, similar to the Madness one... makes his own heat shields, at a fair price. I'm happy with it, can feel a little difference, but I really go for the fact that it makes the supercharger whine louder. LOVE the whine.
