I beated the Stock Mini Cooper S tonight on the way to work. Hehehehheeh It was a wonderful feeling.

It’s all started at about 10:00pm right after I enter the 10 Frwy going East around Atlantic Blvd. Here comes a Dark Silver with black top Mini Cooper S right next to me. From the look on his face he think he can just blow me easliy so I let him have it. I think we are going about 100+ mph going left and right though traffic. I guess I was doing very good because he was about 6-car line behind me and still trying to catch up. Then the reality came to mine, that I couldn’t afford a ticket and slow down. Once the S got up next to me I can see from his face that he can’t believe that a little old Mini Cooper can beat him so he gave me a thump up. Hehhhe  What a feeling.

Anyone out there had beaten an S?

Street racing is foolish. 0 to 30 between lights is bad enough, but to dodge in and out of traffic at 100 MPH is a capital offense – GROW UP.

Only REAL victories for drivers are at safe, sanctioned, and classed events. You have to have rules to to be relevant.

While in full agreement with the cautions mentioned above, I still think the idea that you outpaced an S is remarkable. Granted, there are all kinds of drivers out there and perhaps this driver was being cautious. As quick as a Cooper is, I think all of us know that the #s don't lie and that an S does have a distinct advantage (...exactly how much has been debated here and elsewhere) so I can understand your excitement. In the end, though, all MINI owners are family so I've never gone into competition-mode with one.

We're all just glad that you both are OK and not in an accident. As was said, we're all a family and concerned about each other, and don't want us to get into any trouble or to hurt anybody.

I think everyone had jump to conclusion over this. Deep down inside every man has a little kid in them and to justify by saying all of this is wrong is just not fair because I don’t think everyone here are as perfect as they said they are.

Yes maybe AC_MINI shouldn’t have done what he did last night but all of you just have answer for everything. Maybe at the time he wasn’t thinking and maybe at the time he thinks it was the right thing to do. People learn from it so let it be known that he had made a mistake.

First of all, there are a huge amount of female MINI owners out there, and I'm sure they have a little kid inside of them as well. Second, and more importantly: moderators, could there be a NAM ground rule that anyone boasting about racing in an unsafe way will be warned that they will be removed from the forum if it occurs again, and then the thread immediately locked?? I'm tired of the lectures which are so obvious when people post such nonsense, and the lame defense of such behavior is almost as bad as the original offense. It's too late to learn a lesson when a "mistake" becomes fatal for someone else. Go watch 2Fast2Furious a couple of hundred times and get it out of your system!!

Always remember - your goal in life isn't to "beat a Cooper S" ....
Your goal is to have fun, enjoy the drive and look better than that the car sitting next to you at the light!!! So keep your MINI washed and waxed and looking good every day! The whole world knows they drive like a rocket! So show off how great it looks!

I'm not driving down the street daring every other car to a show of speed! If some idiot in a Camero or WRX wants to try to show off and "beat me"... I'll totally let them! What does it mean when some guy will risk his life to show off like that for you? I see it every day. I'm shocked and amazed that people will risk their life to impress me when I don't care a bit how they drive their car. They peal rubber and smoke their tires, they drive hard and brake hard. They'll need tires and brakes long before I will.

One note - None of the show offs I've seen have been another MINI owner!
We all smile and wave!
I guess because we know what we've got!

- THE BEST CAR ON THE ROAD -

In a nut shell, no.

These subjects will always float around on car culture forums. And besides, if someone decides to accelerate fast in unsafe conditions, and they hurt themselves, it is a form of survival of fittest mind in the modern world.

I feel like so many of you who are criticized other are so out if it. It’s just making me feel like many of you are senior citizen and retirement people in these forums. That just my point of view and I do have the right to express my option or that is also wrong too.

By expressing my option and if any of you didn’t like what I have to say. You are just going to gang up on me and “will be warned that they will be removed from the forum if it occurs again, and then the thread immediately locked??” That is a very big word!!!!!

I’m not here to pick a fight but by opening up my feeling on this issue it has made many of you feel that I have no saying in it. So good about freedom of expression?

I don't think we should be racing other Mini's on the road, we should be motoring with them!

blah, blah, blah site guidelines, blah, blah, blah, no personal attacks, blah, blah, blah, respect each other, blah, blah, blah

My $0.02: you know street racing is not only illegal, but stupid too. If you want to boast about it, prepare to reap the backlash of anti-stupidity comments.

AC_MINI,

>>I beated the Stock Mini Cooper S tonight on the way to work. Hehehehheeh It was a wonderful feeling.
I'm sure that it was exciting for you. It was also dangerous for you and for the innocent people driving near you.
NAM has already seen quite a few posts about MINI owners that were not intending to have trouble but lost control of their MINIs at speeds far less than you were going. Most had wrecks and some lost their MINIs. I'd rather not wait until someone gets killed before we look for safer places to enjoy our driving.

Therefore I have a reasonable request for you and other MINI owners that enjoy the excitement of driving their MINIs. We all have available to us through various car clubs across the country: SCCA and BMW Car Club autocross events (some monthly), various local and national driving schools, etc.

Driving a MINI (no matter which one) requires skill. In some cases the driver counts more than the equiptment.
I think AC_MINI found that out and I'm sure that while on paper the MCS should do well, it might have not for various reasons. It occurs to me that the MCS driver came to his senses and decided for safety reasons or whatever that he was not going to continue to challenge your MC. Perhaps another car got in his path forcing him to slow down. It doesn't matter.

>>It’s all started at about 10:00pm right after I enter the 10 Frwy going East around Atlantic Blvd. Here comes a Dark Silver with black top Mini Cooper S right next to me. As a medical doctor and one who has worked in ERs in Chicago and Los Angeles I have to say that there is nothing more horrible that can happen than a street race gone bad. It doesn't take much to loose control of your car at 100 mph.
If you are not afraid then you ought to read this article which illustrates my point:

If you put it that way minihune.

I'm not saying that what AC_MINI did was right but man this people who are responding on this forum are so act like they had never break any law themselves. I don’t think many of them follow the speed limits of the highway and by telling other that they should stick by law. They should be ashamed of themselves. Yes AC_MINI did already actknowlice that he was wrong but they still keep on back lashing on him with anti-stupidity comments.

No one is saying here that they never break the law. I'm fairly sure that ALL MINI owners exceed posted speed limits from time to time (often? most of the time?). Important distinction: going faster than a speed limit is not the same as endangering other's lives. What you do to endanger your own is one thing. I've put my MINI in a ditch during speed maneuvers, w/ no other cars on the road anywhere, and no one to blame but myself, but bragging about endangering others for some "fun" is like comparing apples and Buicks. It simply doesn't wash.

it was a foolish thing to do ... i in fact witnessed about 5-6 souped-up hondas and vws going at least 100mph on the capital beltway a few months ago. they were weaving in and out of traffic and behold a few cars in front of us came a billowing smoke. the vw spinned out of control and luckily no one was hurt. they could have caused a multiple car collision ....and my family and i would have definitely be part of that accident. thanks god it didn't happen.

Reading this thread is pretty interesting...
First of all. I do not believe a Cooper will beat a S. There is just too big of a difference in ponies. Probably the S driver never realized that AC was racing.

Second, I agree with everyone else that condemns street racing. Sure, I've done my share of dumb things on the road as well. But never in traffic weaving in and out...That's just plain stupid. There are plenty of sanctioned events where AC can run legally and get some of this out of his system.

And lastly. While I am no scholar....Whatever happened to proper English? "I Beated"? What the Hell is that?

Be happy that's the only error, at least you don't see TeXt tYpEd liKe tHis with every other word mispelled beyond belief. Gosh I can't stand some things, maybe too many things as the days go on...

I totally agree Antranik. One of the "words" I hate seeing is OWN3D. The day "creative" spelling takes over NAM is the day I leave the site.
