Were white side mirrors rare on R53's?

Stupid question I know, but I've been looking for white side mirror caps for my 06 S and haven't seen a single set for sale anywhere for a month now. So what was the deal, a rare option or something? Haven't tried the dealer cause I can't take the sticker shock. :eek2:

Not rare at all. :)

White roof = white mirror caps

Black roof = black mirror caps

Body color roof = body color mirror caps

GP = red mirror caps

Thanks! I'll keep looking then.

Pretty common just that folks don't sell their stock mirror caps, unless they buy the checkered or GB caps.

Pull yours off and have them painted. I can't imagine the cost to be that high for such a small item. You might even do some of the prep work.

I believe that the mirror caps from the dealer would come unpainted anyway.

I would add one more... :)

Convertible = body color

I have a used set but they are in deplorable condition.

New caps come in primer flat black color from dealer and cost about 25 dollars a side. Your side mirror caps are really easy to remove and there is a how to in NAM. If you do paint your own just put a few coats of clear coat over them after paint has dried for a day. Some parts depts have take off's on their shelves when a New MINI goes out the door with UJ caps or the Checker style caps. But they are becoming harder to find as of late.

Good to know. I may just get a new set and paint them myself. I want to keep the red, just in case I change my mind.

Here is the how to on the caps.

I also place a blanket on the ground benieth the mirror cap I am removing as they some times fall to the ground during removal. Keeps them frm being chipped :)
