anyone else have the problem it is like the robot or person just dusted the paint and you can see what look like the primer. primer rust's.

I haven't heard of anyone with this prob.
I don't understand what you mean by inside pane. Do you have any pics? SW |
What's a pane?

I think he is trying to say "PANEL". No, I haven't seen any evidence of this on our MINI. In fact these cars are incredibly finished right down to the sections where your eyes don't happen to look. Post some pics, you could have an unusual factory defect. Also are you talking about the door itself or the plastic inside door trim? Details, please! |
JUST A LITTLE TID BIT FOR YOU FOLKS OUT THERE..I WORK FOR A PAINT MFG COMPANY..AND KNOW A THING OR TWO ABOUT PAINT, COATINGS, AND PRIMERS.
PRIMER ON ANY METAL SURFACE IS YOUR ONLY SOURCE FOR CORROSION PROTECTION, THE PAINT THAT GOES ON TOP OF ANY PRIMER HAS NO CORROSION INHIBITERS IN IT. iT PRETTY MUCH IS THERE FOR ITS LOOKS AND U.V PROTECTION. THAT BEING SAID, I THINK THYE JUST COAT THE AREAS THAT WILL BE TOTAL SEEN, AND IF THIS IS INSIDE A PANEL OR PANE I DON'T THINK THEY FORGOT JUST A MATTER OF COST SAVINGS I AM SURE.yOU WILL PRBABLY ALSO NOTICE THAT USUSALLY UNDER THE HOOD AND IN THE GAS GATE AREA'S OF NEW VEHILCES THE PAINT DOES LOOK DIFFENT, MAYBE NOT SO SHINY!.WELL TODAY'S CARS ARE PAINTED IN BASE /CLEAR SYSTEMS AND IN AREAS WHERE LIGHT/SUN DOESN'T GET TO THESE ARE USUSALLY LEFT WITH JUST A BASE COAT AND NO CLEAR . (UNLESS YOU LIKE DRVING WITH THE BONNET UP;-) ) NO CHANGE OF SUN NO CHANCE THERE WILL BE A CLEAR COATING ON IT. CHEZZZY PEZZZY WILLIAM |
The part in question is by the door hinges I will try to take a pic. look up
by the hinges in between were the fender and body have like a space. it appears the body is painted assembled and the robot or person did not paint inside this area. Also on my front right fender is a black spot under the clear coat. This is a yellow mini so quite prevelant. Of course the dealer wants me to leave it but it's not his mini. thanks |
It's painted in a bath of paint... unless there were some oil or something on the spot, I'm not sure how you wouldn't have paint... (not that I don't believe you, i'm just confused..).. and the dark spot could have very easily been some left over something in the bath when your MINI was painted... but please post pics... i'm curious...

>> >>thanks >> Think long & hard about getting this type of defect (which is what it sounds like) "fixed". Usually, this means they repaint the entire body section, and then you may find the colors don't match; one fades & one doesn't, etc. If you can "live" with it, the dealer may be right. Because, once you unleash the paint folks... you can never hit a "un-do" key to go back to the factory finish! At least, look long & hard at specific (same color) examples of the Dealer's work. Sorry about the defect, but at least you can't see it while you're driving! |
