Do you still wave...

...blink headlights, or beep at other MINIs? 'Cause I do. Actually, in my area MINIs are still quite scant and always generate stares from other drivers. People still come up and ask what type of car it is, etc. Anyways, there is one thing I've noticed that bothers me. Everytime a man is driving MINI, he will wave etc. back. Now, I'm not accusing anyone, but every woman MINI driving will NOT wave no matter the ruckus I make. I've only ever gotten one woman to wave (and she seemed embarrassed doing so). Does anyone else notice this trend or am I crazy. Keep up the waves motorers !

Maybe they think you're stalking them.

Honestly, I can't blame any woman for not talking to strangers, be they Motorers or not.

No. no--not talking to them. Just you know how you see a MINI approaching you and you get excited to wave etc., well the women (generally) don't wave. They are still in their cars. No physical talking or anything. Just another MINI passing another on the road.

Donning my flame-proof suit

Perhaps the non-waving, non-honking, non-flashing female MINI motorists are not really MINI enthusiasts, but simply have a MINI as the latest trendy automotive fashion accessory?

Ignoring another MINI driving by has something to do with the horror they might feel if they were to show up to a fancy party wearing the same exact dress as the hostess.

Women Who Won't Wave (wwww)-- I'm still waving and honking... not stalking you at all... good fashion choice you've made there... got a MINI too... something we have in common... married now, not "after" you... usually not this goofy... hello!... beep, beep... hello... never mind.

God speed.

I always try to get some form of MINI communication to my fellow MINI owners. I guess it's a throwback from my motorcycle days. Whenever I would see someone on a bike I would give them a flash O DA lights or a wave or something. There are very few MINI's in my town and I have only managed to talk to one of them.

Damned right I do. Remember a stranger is a friend you haven't met yet. MINIs always get the headlight salute.

I have a feeling that some of the female drivers I have not gotten a wave from simiply weren't paying attention. I haven't really seen any men driving minis around me so it happens quite often. I know several women who hardly pay attention to the road when they are driving let alone the other drivers (sorry ladies). I know I have missed a wave or two because I was either too involved in traffic or a converstation or something. All that being said, the waves and the minis have become more frequent in my small neck of the woods.

Other than at PittStop of Pgh. Mini Club meeting have only seen one other Mini on highway since I got my 04 mcs and it was way over on opposite lane of 4 lane hwy going in other direction. Have had quite a few people in various cars wave at me & I always wave back.

I wave, and find depending on location, I'm more apt to get a wave back. In Pacific Palisades, I've never gotten a wave back from ANY MINI, and there are quite a few. In fact, I blinded one yesterday with my Rally Lights--which are focused at eye level. I don't think he even knew what hit him.

Further out of the West Side, closer to Venice, West LA, and Marina del rey, I get more waves. I got a nice wave from a cute girl who was on her cell phone. She paused, to wave back which was cool. I passed a new MINI motorer from Brecht yesterday. She was very cautious, and I was ahead of her. I slowed down to 50, on the 405, traffic wasn't exactly light--to let her catch up, and I gave her the thumbs up. She kept both hands on the wheel, but atleast smiled back.

I really believe that the waves I don't get back are directly related to whether that person is an enthusiast or just an owner. In Pacific Palisades, there are quite a few souped up MINI's (in case you don't know, Pac Pal is a very affluent area--like Beverly Hills) but people don't wave.

Many are also distracted on their cell phones. I used to look out for other Motorers on my drive home, but too often didn't get waved back, so I started NOT looking out for people, and I know I've ignored/missed a few opportunities. It goes in waves for me.

I wave.

If they don't wave back, I retract three fingers and my thumb.

I've noticed that women will only wave if there is another guy in the car. Even my wife is tenative about waving. She will if the other driver (always a guy) does first.
There is a red mini near my work driven by a woman. She has snubbed me 3 times... I'll get her to wave eventually, I hope..
I have also noticed that women are not looking around like guys are... they never seem to even notice there is another MINI passing them.

Check out my sig... it says it all.

I’ve had my MCS over a year now and I’d wave, I’d stop and talk – hell, I’d clean their windshield. I have seen only 4 MINI’s drive through my area in that time and I know I’m the owner of one for many miles.
