I have to admit that I like having it on some of the time, but would keep it turned off more often if I didn't have to look at that warning light (lit idiot lights drive me nuts). So, a way to change the default would be nice.
But as I've said before, it's not the stability control that I want to disable. Rather, it's the traction control that comes with the DSC.

>>Maybe in sunny SoCal, but here in the world of rain, ice and snow the DSC is my friend for at least 5 months out of the year. Still I can dream of the perfect climate.....
Being from Oregon, I have to agree strongly w/ this. If I take a corner w/ any spirit on a wet day, the wheels are spinning like crazy if the DSC is off. I can actually navigate more quickly on wet pavement w/ the DSC engaged and certainly more safely. If I want to have some slip-and-slide type fun w/ my tail all over the place when it's wet, then I flip it off.

^^Am I the only one who thinks that this would make a GREAT tattoo?!?!
I'm moving more and more toward 100% off, but I'm too much of a wiener to turn it off when it's slick outside. So basically, 100% off in dry weather (except when I'm really sleepy, and I feel like I could do something stupid!)

I'm the other way around, I guess you guys must drive ***** to the wall all the time. On the other hand, I seriously enjoy taking my car out and pushing it to it's handling and performance limits, obviously with DSC off. But not all the time, in my area I would lose my license in about 2 days, there's cops everywhere  I find that in normal day to day driving, the DSC simply doesn't shut me down enough to warrent turning it off as soon as I get in the car, and you never know when you might need it...

I posted the following in the ON folder!
I keep it in on all the time for safety reasons. I can understand why people turn it off though. The DSC portion of it works wonderfully and I keep it on for that reason. The ASC portion of it sucks. Whenever I take off and one wheel spins the ASC not only applys the brake to the slipping wheel it also shuts off the gas, rather abruptly I might add.
Our SAAB has DSC and ASC and both function perfectly. The ASC portion only applys brake to the slipping wheel. It does not remove gas. When the DSC portion kicks in i.e. when I turn too quick in the rain etc. it will remove gas gradually and smoothly. The MINI's DSC pretty much just removes the gas completely.
Quick starts in the MINI are useless because it shuts off the throttle. This completely ruins any chance of a quick take off with it on. My Honda Accord and Saab 9/5 will not remove gas under high rpm starts. It will just keep stopping the slipping wheel making for some really cool starts.
Did anyone understand a word of what I just typed? I think I confused my self.
