MotorinGirl,
Absolutely! You can get it serviced at Peabody, even though you bought it from Herb Chambers, I know because I have! DO yourself a favor and avoid any of the issues I've had and go to Peabody. Your warranty work can be done at any MINI dealership.

Now I am off to Herb Chambers to pick up my Baby. I hope those bastards are done abusing me AND my MINI!

OK, apparently they weren't done with abusing me or my MINI. You guys will NOT believe this! I swear there must be a target on my forehead.

I go to pick up the car meet with BMW GM Melissa Steffy who I had asked by phone to meet me and walk through the check-list of things that we agreed they would do when I dropped off the car to make sure everything was done before I left. Among those things agreed upon:
1. Reset ASC hazard light that keeps coming on and fix whatever is wrong with it that's causing it to come on and stay on.
2. Fix sunroof rattle (third appt. in which I have asked this to be done)
3. Fix boot latch rattle (third appt. in which I had asked this to be done)
4. Request oil change at 5,000 (although I emphasized that I was aware one wasn't due until 10K miles, I still wanted it done and planned to pay for it)
5. Resecure loose front grill
6. Fix shabby body work that had been outsourced during my last appt. resulting in black spots in silver paint and damage to door frame on drivers side door.

Well, guess what? As we are walking through the list, she checks to find out OOPS! Oil change wasn't done. "Oh but we can do it for you right now. Do you have 30 mins?" NO DAMN IT! I DON'T have 30 mins. you had 6 days to fix these things and do the oil change! (Deep breath...)

So continue through the list and everything else SEEMS to check out ok, until I drive off the lot. ASC light still on, sunroof's still a rattlin'! (Deep Breath...) SO I drive around the block pissed off and return to Herb Chambers and request to see Melissa Steffy while the car is still running so I can prove to her the ASC hazard light is still on and drive her around the block to show her the sunroof rattle. But she's all of a sudden too busy too see me and I'm asked to wait for her!

Needless-to-say, I didn't wait. I've had it with these people and their shitty attempts at service. It took them 6 days and what did I get? Body work that was supposed to be right the first time(which they just did yesterday so that's 1 full day for paint to cure), and the other 5 days? A resecured front grill and the boot latch rattle fixed, that's it! UNBELIEVEABLE!

Please people, DO NOT GIVE HERB CHAMBERS ANY BUSINESS! Not even warranty work which they obviously can't get right. I've logged another complaint with MINIusa and I will be making an appt. with MINI Peabody to get things fixed properly.

Yeesh. Looks like I'll be going to Peabody for service. I actually went over to see and sit in my car today, and was pretty giddy about it. Can't take it home until Thursday (bank, registration, etc.). It appears that I'm about to escape from Herb Chambers with a car for only $160 over MSRP, but I have to admit, I'm still nervous to see what nasty surprises may be in store. Sorry to hear of your troubles, PureSilver...

Thanks Chrisneal. I talked to Gary King in Service over at MINI Peabody. I'm going in on Friday so he can take a look at my car and hopefully fix the things that Herb Chambers never did.

Good luck to you. Glad to hear that you're getting them down in the price. Just make sure that you are careful to get EVERYTHING in writing!

Hope to see you Motoring soon. Regardless of all the crap they have put me through I still ADORE this car!

Ugh! Herb Chambers Mini.....I passed through Boston a few weeks ago and wanted to get the oil changed in my Cooper. They started to give me an appointment...in 2 weeks. Now I've been on many road trips in many cars but I've NEVER had a dealership give me an appointment 2 weeks out when I mentioned I was travelling. I mentioned it again(on a Monday) and they then said I could come in on Saturday but "I'd have to wait." Sorry. Bought a filter from them(reluctantly) left Boston and took the car to the BMW dealer in Burlington, VT who did it while I waited and was able to keep on motorin' .
