There's a Transformer in my glove box!
Ok, here's something I haven't seen on this board yet.
There seems to be a Transformer hiding in my glove box (2006 MCS). For the past few days, a strange electric motor 'whirring' type sound randomly comes from my glove box every few minutes. The best way to describe the sound is a) Just like the sound the small robots make when they transform in the movie Transformers or; b) the sound a digital camera makes when you turn it on and the lens pops out and the lens cover opens. Is there an electrical motor in the glove box? If so, what could it possibly be doing? TIA. |
Does this happen with the a/c on? It could be one of the motors that operates the valve for recirculated/outside air. The assembly might be broken and the system tries to operate the valve fruitlessly.

I hear this too every once in a while (when I'm not playing music and can actually hear it).
No idea of what it is though. |
heh...
turn your car to on, or to acc. push the recirculate button on the ac. you should hear the noise. if your hearing it every few minutes, you probally have a broken control panel or some such. the noise comes from the vent for fresh air... i think its in the filterbox below the glove compartment. Also, check that filter. it may be full of crap. i changed mine and sticks fell out....:eek2: -Ryan |
