Hi All-

I haven't posted in a while but I wanted to tell you all about this morning. I got into Monty and started him up. After a few seconds I heard a little chirp sound from the dash and noticed that one of my indicators was flashing. It stopped before I could really focus on it and figure out what it was. I just knew that it was a number and it was flashing where the computer information shows up. I clicked through the all the gallons and mileage stuff until I came to the outside temp. It flashed 33 degrees F at me (1 degree C). I guess it was telling me we are near freezing her in the Mid-Atlantic.

Thanks Monty, I'll make sure I put a warmer coat on. Those heated seats are going to feel mighty nice if we have the kind of winter they are predicting.

Yes Laurie, the car will bong at you when the temp gets down near freezing. If you live in a cold area you’ll be hearing that a lot for the next few months. If you're driving where it’s warm, then in to freezing type weather it will also do it as a warning that the roads may be icy.

It's Monty's way of saying take it easy over frost laden bridges and around bends. Remember, Monty wants to look his best all year long. Thanks for the heads up, we're supposed to have a frost tonight too.

He's such a thoughtful little guy. Thanks for the warning, I'll have to make sure I cover him up extra snug tonight.

Laurie,

It should beep when the temp is below 38 F.

it does this at 3 degrees C or lower to warn of potential "black ice".

I wish my car would bong at me. That would be sweet.

It should also do this at 18-17deg F which is when most salt used in the NE becomes a non factor.. I've seen the effects when the temp's unexpectedly drop below that line and it isn't pretty!

Well, I am pleased to say that it rarely gets that cold in this area but it's good to know that our MINIs are looking out for our safety in all kinds of weather.

That is one of the greatest features on our MINIs. BMW even implemented it on my E30 325es in 1986! It sounds like what you would hear on an airplane when someone requests service.
