R50/53 CAI or K&N?
CAI or K&N?
Already have a 15% pulley and BPV i was curious if a panel filter would help much and if you gain much supercharger sound with one? It could use a little more but i'm afraid the CAI will be a little much. I'm sure it would breath better either way over the stock filter. What do you all think?
yes itg is great more pricey than KN one, but if itg is good enough for f1 cars its good enough for my MINI. HP gains is very minimal 1-3 hp gains tops, sound of SC becomes more pronounced, insofar as air vaccum sound and whine, but no increase in the exhaust end sound.
How do you like the 15 pulley and dtbpv???

I added an ALTA CAI last year and love it, def. increased the sc whine and whether it was in my head or not, i noticed a gain in hp (not to mention the sound of it suckin in air when you get on it). Added a 15% pulley a while back and it too increased the sound
Any kind of intake available for these cars is mostly for sound, moderate throttle response gain, and slight power increase (3-4hp max, if that) at the top end. Another good point is that most aftermarket panel filters and CAIs have washable elements, which saves money in the long run and is, green, I guess.

I think he's talking about the panel filter for stock intake guys, but Alta and DDM are both great CAI. Like Nash said a CAI is maybe good for 3-4 hp. Not like Mustang or trucks where a simple KN filter yeild 10-15hp.
I have an AFE Stage 2 CAI. The reason I bought it is the dry filter - no oiling. It breathes well and since adding the 15%, the SC whine is intoxicating.
