Antenna won't fit or is something broken in there?

Hey everyone,

It's been awhile! Well recently someone decided to steal my awesome 15" OEM antenna. I was under the impression that they just unscrewed it and took it since there are not jagged parts sticking out. So I ordered a 4" alta performance stubby antenna. Was excited to put it on but it won't fit!

I can't tell if maybe the base of the OEM antenna is still "screwed" in the antenna hole or this alta antenna won't fit. When I say it doesn't fit, I mean the screw at the base of the antenna doesn't appear to be long enough to enter the hole.

I'm pretty sure I got the correct model. I don't have nav and I have a 2006 Cooper.

here is the antenna I ordered.

Does someone have a picture of the antenna base hole on the car without anything in it so I can see what it is suppose to look like?

Thanks,

try to unscrew it from the antenna. i know when i was at MITM 07 thats what happened to me....if you know some one with a R53 ask them if you can try it, if not then call adam and see if he can send you another one...

Like this, I think.

I don't have one of these though, but how else would it be built?

I don't know why it wouldn't work unless something is stuck in there; I have both the Alta stubby Antenna and an R53...

Pics:*

This is what the threads look like on the ALTA stubby antenna (minus the rust).

thanks for the photos. It helped! Definitely nothing was stuck in there.

That drawing is hilarious nabeshin but it turns out to be absolutely correct. hahaha I can't believe I actually needed directions to install a stubby antenna.

It's kind of what I'm known for, see my gallery.
