Is it POSSIBLE to buy a MINI with $12,000?

I don't care about the options..

I just want car which
year : 2005 or newer
Miles : under 70000miles
No accident record

I searched at KBB.com,
and 2006 mini cooper with 60k miles is $12000 (private party value - fair),

I heard that recently the used car price is between Trade-in(good) and Private party value(fair) due to the economy.

Is it possible to buy mini with $12000??

I doubt it. Mini has the best resale value for ALL makes right now. Here is the closest I could find right here on NAM:

Good luck

I wouldn't trust ebay. They are not trustworthy for cars. My daughter almost got ripped off. The only way we caught it was he wouldn't take paypal so we emailed ebay and found out it was a fraud.

so you guys saying
kbb price value is not reliable?

http://www.kbb.com/KBB/UsedCars/Pric...0505|21043|0|0|

it says the fair condition is 12000 (with basic options)
I heard that the used cars are usually sold with fair condition prices.

The KBB and Edmunds guides are notoriously unreliable, especially with the MINI, because of the way MINI handles options.

Also, no 2006 should have deteriorated enough to fall in the KBB "fair" category unless it was horribly abused by the previous owner.

i dont know about 05+ as stated above. i got my 2002 MCS in december with 50k miles for 11,900 from a dealer. maybe you should consider older years? older in years does not mean worse car. when i search craigslist i never see a deal as good as the one i got, but it depends on your area. if your heart is set on 05+ i'd just wait for the deal of a lifetime.

I have bought and sold over 10 cars on eBay, one costing in excess of $40,000. No problems here.

One would be foolish to take Paypal for a car. eBay charges 3% for using it. I think you need to do research before calling something so great fraud.

Depending on how diligent you are it might be possible. It would take a lot of leg work, research, and luck. Basically, it would involve being patient to find just the right car and the right time.

Why just '05 and newer?

I bought my 2004 justa for $9500. 80,000 miles with interesting paper work that didn't daunt me, it had just recently been repoed. It's in great truly condition but has no paper work and no MFSW. I took a bit of a flier on it but the price couldn't be beat.

I say it depends on how desperate the seller is. Sometimes you find really good deals. Just be ready to make the deal asap w cash if possible.

A guy in our club just bought a 2005 loaded S for $11,500, but it had 81K miles on it.

You may have to make some slight concessions in your wants, but it's definitely doable.

Why not use the 12,000 (or 10K) as a down payment on a brandy new MINI?
I did that and have not regretted it for one second. I have not minded making car payments for my '05! Almost done...

I payed $16000 for 05 MC with a clean carfax and 50k miles. It has a few options like the chrono pack but its pretty basic.

I just purchased an 04 cooper S a couple weeks ago.
pretty much fully loaded but no nav.
48,000 miles. I had it dealer inspected and no problems were found. the guy was asking $12000 and I didnt even try to bargain with him. why would I?

let the upgrades begin... oh they already have.
added- 06 gearbox, Quaife LSD, ACT flywheel, Spec stage3 clutch, Alta supercharger pully, Madness cold air intake, msd coil pack and wires, poly control arm bushings, poly motor mounts. H&R springs, Alta Adj lower controls arms, Panasport rims with new Yokohamas....[madness swaybar and alta exhaust on backorder grrrrr] and that was just the first weekend. I need more time, and money!

That's a great deal bobbydanger!

I just got my '03 S for $13,000. It has 65k, original owner, in perfect shape. All dealer service records. I also got the 16" alloys and optional 17" wheels.

I got my 2003 for under 9k with a 2k trade in. High miles, but a good car so far. It was the lowest price around at the time, and I ain't seen anything much better since. You might do better in the current economy. Why not?

Unless you can live with the car being a salvage title, yes you can. After all, I did it.

If you were a used car salesman, I'll bet you could buy a good MINI for $12K,
but if you're buying from a lot or an individual, you'd almost certainly have to
pay more for a good one.

A salesman I know that works for a Lexus dealer in Dallas took a 03 MCS coupe on trade for $6000 w/ 83,000 miles. The car was very well maintained with records but most likely it's going to auction, they don't like sell high mileage vehicles plus anything older than five years. There are deals out there, you just have to know were to look.
