I learned some things about my MCS today

First off I would like to thank everyone at the Metroplex Mini Club today for the Mini of Dallas DIY event. Even though my car is still being rebuilt & will be ready hopefully by next week, plenty of active members gave me very helpful tech tips. Since my car was owned locally, I later went over to the service drive to find out any history since I had no books or maintenance records. To my surprise I found out that my Mini has had two clutches & flywheels replaced within its lifetime, MoD's shop records went to April of 07, also the warranty file has been flagged by BMW NA for some reason & will try to get to the bottom of this on Monday. Apparently the previous owner beat the holy snot out of this little car. I knew it was a risk buying a salvaged title MCS, the front tires were bald so I was expecting some abuse but I hope this doesn’t make me regret this in the long run.

The clutch on a MINI is really a hit or miss. Some people can beat out 100K miles on them, others, it has crapped on them in less than 30K.

Really the only thing that bothering me is how the former owner treated this car, the service records from what I understand read like a phone book.

I did however get a good deal. Granted the car is 4 years old & out of warranty, I have a thread going on the rebuild, feel free to take a look at the process.
