R50/53 New MINI owner: '05 Cooper S
I do have the heated mirrors, but I don't think there's any symbol on the mirror face that indicates they're heated.
There's no on/off switch for the mirror heating - they're heated whenever the ignition is on, no matter how warm or cold it is outside. If you put the back of your hand against the mirror after the car's been running for a few minutes, you should be able to feel pretty easily if they're heated.

Ok, that's what my brother said to do the other day as well. He told me that they would be on all the time as well, but I didn't believe him that they would be on alllll the time. But, I guess they are just like his BMW 3 then, always on. Now I want to go and feel up my mirrors! But it's too late tonight (3am) I'll do it tomorrow!
Thanks for all your help by the way

You're welcome - half the fun on NAM is helping new owners figure out what options (and aftermarket goodies) are on their cars. By any chance, have you checked for an aftermarket supercharger pulley yet? It was a pretty popular modification.
You're also lucky that you found a car with the limited-slip differential. 2005 was the first year for it, and don't think it was a commonly-selected option. (It wasn't included with any of the option packages, and not very many people spent $500 on an option they can't even see unless they knew what it does and really wanted it.)

Yeah, I come from a supercharged grand prix, so I'm going to follow the same method. CAI, smaller S/C pulley, exhaust, etc. etc. Can't wait to get started. I am going to install the OEM alarm and tint the windows first and then go from there.
Yeah, I'm surprised that this car has it (didn't know till after) but it has the option, 2TA LSD on the sheet. Now, this basically makes the torque the same to both wheels essentially?

So you've already checked, and the previous owner didn't put on a smaller supercharger pulley?
As for the LSD, you have the gist of it. With a regular open differential, if one wheel starts slipping, the differential will actually start applying more of the engine's torque to the *slipping* wheel, since that's the easiest wheel to turn. Obviously, this doesn't help the traction any. With the LSD, up to 25-30% of the torque from the slipping wheel can be transferred back to the wheel that's *not* slipping, improving overall grip.

Nice mini, as a former jet black owner (now have dark silver 06 MCS), I would reccomend one thing actually two things, a california duster and good paint polish for the inevitable scratches, Oh and one more thing "Black cars look better in the shade".
You do realize that reference is going to sail right over the head of anyone much younger than 40, right??
