OEM brake pads

Just curious.....I know there are a lot of factors involved here, depending on one's driving habits, but approximately how many miles of driving should you be able be able to log in before the OEM brake pads (15" wheels) would need replacement ?

Thanks for your comments.

Street driving only? Any autocross? City, HWY, mix? If it was street only, mix of city and Hwy, I would say 25,000-30,000 would be fair. Are the rotors ok?

I got 67,000 miles out of mine. They were RIGHT at the end of life. 17" wheels. I pride myself on braking less than the average bear. The rotors absolutely were ready for replacement as well.

My cooper has 34k miles and still stock pad. I am usually very hard on the brakes and especially with such well grabbing pad as this stock one is. I'm always very late on the braking thus braking real hard.
I'm estimating that I will be able to get it to about 40k miles before the light appears on the dash.

I just replaced mine at 43k miles. (15" winter tires, 17" summer). They probably could have gone another year, but I already had the pads - so why not?

I have a funny feeling that the DSC wore out my brakes faster than usual - it's always kicking in around here in the winter, especially taking off from a stop. I've got my auto-up circuit programmed to disable DSC now.

My stock brakes lasted roughly 20,000 miles before the pads and rotors were shot.

My fronts were replaced at 21K. Although, to be honest I begged the dealer to find a reason to replace them so I could put on some aftermarket pads on new rotors. He later said they were right on the edge so he replaced them. He may have been right or he may have been sucking up to me as my overheat problems from last year were a severe thorn in his side.

It really depends how you drive. I will need to replace mine @ 30k but I don't drive a lot of highway. I can see a much longer interval if you drive on the highway a lot.

I suppose I should emphasize that most of my driving is, in fact highway... I do about 100 miles on my commuting days - about 22,000 per year.
On a semi related note about brake wear, it simply boggles my mind when I see individuals hitting their brakes for absolutely NOTHING. No doubt they're on the GD cell phone...
