Car looks very nice. Seems to have sport pack, sunroof, half leather seats, Harmon Kardon and Jet Black.

However, miles are on the very high side for an '05, so that is a negotiating point.

Carfax says there are 7 records for this car...

+1 on the miles.

One in Houston, 1 year older fraction of the miles, similar asking $:

Yeah... But it is a pre-facelift 2004 S. I much prefer the 2005 for all the improvements introduced that year. I think the OP should keep looking unless he can get a killer deal due to the high mileage.

yea I've run across a few this one just stands out to me. but I'm in no hurry right now I think I'm going to let the recession get a little worst then go find one lol

+2 on miles. Be sure to invest in an extended warranty at the same time.

The '05 is a far preferable vehicle to the '04 since the gearing is far better and will launch the car to 60 a half second sooner.

Dustin77327 Mar 10, 2009 03:30 PM

ok so they emailed me back and told me 10,000 out the door i'm pretty tempted to do this deal

saturn Mar 10, 2009 09:58 PM

If you check Kelley Blue Book, it's around 16,000 or so for what dealers should be asking for this car. If ya want it, I say "Go for it"!!!

85K miles for a 4 year old car. This car was driven over 20,000 miles a year. $10,000 out the door? I'd bring it to a reliable and MINI experienced mechanic to check it out first...

I've been told that the gearing in the 04's is better on the long run with mods than the 05's...

May be something you'd want to look into as well.

Bought my car 14 months, and 20,000 miles ago. As long as it was maintained properly, shouldn't be a problem. Mileage means nothing, maintenance is everything!

Clutch and supercharger are two things that would really concern me with a Mini at this mileage. Two potentially costly wear items around the 100k mark.

Which is why I bought mine with 13k on it last June, I drive about 11,000 miles a year....the car should last me quite awhile without any major repairs.

Dustin77327 Mar 11, 2009 01:57 PM

Well I went and drove the car and..... The airbag light was on, No coolant in the reservoir and the engine was a greaseball. The valve was leaking oil everywhere and where the person held their cigarette to the window was black all the way back to the boot on the headliner. just a total waste of my time. O well I'll just keep looking and they told me on the phone the car was pristine condition before I drove the 70 miles one way to see it

ddawson Mar 11, 2009 02:30 PM

Yep heard it many times. Excellent condition, no scratches or dings.

Drive an hour to go see it and walked away. Sale guys don't know what clean and in top shape mean.

CarGuyNeil Mar 11, 2009 03:16 PM

Mileage means nothing on a German car. Would you even worry if it had a BMW emblem on the hood with that mileage? So why would it because it's a MINI?? As long as it has been well-maintained with records, I say go for it. Maybe not that one, but one in better condition.

The top three criteria that be most strongly considered when buying ANY used car are:

condition
Condition
CONDITION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
