New windshield for my 02

just got my windshield replaced from a ford dealer and they didnt do a very good job. when the windshield was replaced the previous time they cracked the black side moulding. when they replaced the windshield this time they didnt put the already cracked black moulding piece on and i flew off when i was going about 75 on the interstate. so i guess i will have the ford dealer replace it for me. its always something....

I live two hours away from the closest mini dealer and I am only 17. I cant take off school for that. And plus both of my parents work during the day. So I was stuck going to the closest car dealer and it happened to be a ford. I prob should have taken my mini to the dealer but it was bad timing for me

I'll second that recommendation. My insurance refers all glass work to safelite and over the years they've done many replacements on a variety of cars 4 us including twice on our 02 S.

The one time I did have a complaint (not on the S btw) they came right back the next day and did the entire job again for free....brought new glass and new trim pieces.

BTW....what was your deductable? Don't tell me but if it was $$ you might compare what your rates would be to lower your comp' deductable to zero. It is often very small and one glass replacement way more than covers it. No windshield claim on my comp' has ever impacted my rates (but I'm not 17....)

The dealer should have to replace the piece; they hosed it up to begin with. I have a local glass dealer here in Missouri that when mine blew off they replaced it right away. Now that my windshield is cracked again with a stone from a big truck (3 months later) I've already approached the same glass folks. Go back to the Ford Dealer and demand they replace it; if done right it should not be flying off.

A Ford dealer working on a MINI?

Let Safelite do the work right.

I'm in the middle of Missouri, no safelite dealer or vendor near for 2hours. The young man who asked the question is in North West Pennsylvania (also in the boonies) and I'm guessing he is closer to Buffalo NY than any other place. Still a good drive. You see we have to rely on other methods when we are not near large cities.

Talk to the ford dealer and see if they will replace the broken piece. Its common that that part falls (flies) off after a windshield is replaced. In reality those plastic pieces should be replaced when the windshield is replaced. They are stuck on w/ tape and cheesy plastic tabs that break off anytime they are removed. When I got my window replaced they broke one of the plastic pieces, and replaced it, the one they didn't replace flew off about a month later.

It's not the Ford dealers fault - there is nothing tricky or different on these windshields than any others out there (well maybe if you have the rain sensing ones )

Good luck.

Nik
