R50/53 Anyone 16 when they first got their MINI?
Got mine this past fall a few months shy of 20... And I thought I was doing pretty well for myself. Not to be bitter (and I'm not, I'm just making a point), but perhaps we should add an addendum to this post "Anyone 16 when they paid for their first MINI?"
On a seperate note, my first car (at the age of 16) was a '71 Datsun 240Z that my grandfather and I restored... And as much as I love my MINI, you can't beat the feeling of driving a car that you paid for in sweat and tears.

I just got my first Mini (24).
For all of you that you parent got one for, be grateful. I got a job at 16 after school and on weekends and my father told me one day "lets go get you a car!" I was so excited, we got to the car dealer and i found an '87 Toyota Celica for $500 down. Went into the office and my father gave the guy $50 and said "my son just got a job, he will be back in two weeks when he gets paid to finish paying the down payment!" I think it made me grow up quicker and be more responsible.
Just be grateful and enjoy your Mini.
