R50/53 Finally on the Road

OH, HAPPY DAY!!!
I have been following this forum for some time. I put my money ($1000) down at MINI of Towson on May 30. My order went in early in July and the production was completed on August 9. I picked up my new best friend on September 6.
The waiting has been horrible -- but it all seems worth it now. The car is everything I anticipated and more. I know I don't have to tell this group how much fun it is to drive -- and to show off. I am in the Germantown area just north of DC. I went up into PA and WV for the weekend. Terrific roads: so narrow, twisty, hilly. . . in short, everything I would normally hate. I guess MINI does change everything.
His name is Beowulf (English, you know) Small, agressive, ready to take on monsters and brag about it. . .

Congrats Fitzwater! 
We also finally took delivery of our new '02 MINI Cooper this past Saturday, September 7th. I haven't made any postings during the past couple of weeks because the wife & I were in vacation and we just got back into town last Friday. Also, since we took delivery of our new MINI beauty, we have been having so much fun behind the wheel that we have almost completely forgot about this website (In a positive way, of course!).
I echo Fitzwater's comments.....the car has far exceeded our expectations in every conceivable way and it has been flawless in nearly 5 days of ownership!!
The folks at Lauderdale MINI were terrific and the delivery process went extremely smoothly and indeed has been one of the best car buying experiences so far.
When we arrived to the dealer last Saturday, our MINI was already in the "Center Stage" of the showroom, perfectly washed, waxed and detailed with a bow in top of the dashboard, a box of mints in the cup holder, 3 free "MINI Motoring" CD's and the customary steering wheel cover with the phrase "Your MINI has been inspected from boot to bonnet". The car is beautiful and indeed a showstopper!
The sales manager threw in the MINI floor mats and also gave my wife and I beautiful MINI themed shirts (Design of our choice) from the MINI Boutique display.
It was a terrific buying experience and I highly recommend Lauderdale MINI to anyone thinking about buying a new MINI in the South Florida area.
Looking forward to many happy motoring years!

Delivered 9/7/02: '02 MINI Cooper, Pepper White, Black roof and mirrors, CVT, Multifunction Steering wheel, 8-Spoke 15" Wheels, STD black leatherette seats with Silver Gray door panels, STD painted bumpers (No Chrome accents). Having a blast!!!
