The contact isn't 100% on the driver side either, leaving a straight thin strip of water down the center of the windshield. Stay away from these wipers. I've written two letters to Valeo, but no response.

What are the best wipers available that work with the MINI?

Here's a YouTube video of someone showing the right edge issue:
That video I made is from my R56. As an update, I still have my orginals after almost two winters and they are still pretty streak free and pretty much like new without any maintenance. I got over the outer passenger coverage issue. I don't have the center strip problem though in mine. I guess it's a 1st gen thing.

When mine start streaking, I'm not sure what to try out next. PIAA? Icons? Or maybe the Valeos again but a shorter one on the passenger side to help with the curvature "issue"?

Question from San Diego: What are these wiper things you all are talking about?

I get the regular old style Bosch wipers. They aren't as pretty as the new-fangled blades out there, but I can't say that I really care. They last as well as any blades I've ever bought.

Don't give it any more thought or worry. You live in SoCal, so it doesn't matter!

I have used the Rain X and they did a great job, however I had a wind noise with them coming from the passenger side so i removed them. Now I have the Micro edge on and they needed to be bent to clean the entire windshield, going to try the PIAA one's. I think part of the Problem is I have a PPG windshield Installed and it may not be the exact curveture as the factory

I have the PIAA graphite series and they were horrible after 6 months. So I ordered the PIAA Super Silicone replacement blades for $6 each on Amazon, and they fit right into the lower-end PIAA wipers just fine. Now I'm waiting for it to rain to see how good they are

I just got the PIAA super silicone wipers from outmotoring.com, and I have put them on my car. And as they noted on the website, there is no "wind deflector" on the PIAAs like there were on the OEM wipers. Has anyone noticed any sort of effect from not having this so called "wind deflector" or have any notion of what that piece might actually be doing to help your driving experience? I can't think of any time in the rain this previous year I've noticed any wind deflection...?

edit: oops, just realized this post was in first gen..oh well, if anyone might have any ideas......??

Well my Valeo Ultimates are starting to streak. So guess they last about 2 years in Northeastern conditions. Now to try something new. I just ordered the PIAA super silicone set from Outmotoring.

I just put on a set of the Trico All Season blades ( Orange Box ), I also decided to change the sizing to see if i could fix some of the window cleaning area and streaking that I have had. I went down to a 16 inch on the passenger side and a 17 inch on the driver side, actually works perfect, no streaking and both blades conform perfectly to the Windshield.
Used them today at about 75 in the rain, No lifting, not stumble, and NO Noise!!, We shall see how long they last

I have found that regardless of price & label, blades should just get replaced every 6 months. Even cheap ones perform well for at least that long, and the expensive ones don't perform well for that much longer.

PIAA silcone, I think they offer a curved version now... Hugs my r53 windshield, and works at high speed too. Going on 1+ year now, and still awsome. Kinda $$, but well worth it. Not a modern looking sexy 1 piece, but it is simply great, looks similar to oem, no wing, but it does have bult in holes that are cut that seem to work like little wings. 100% coverage too...no missed edges either.

My PIAA silicone wipers streak terribly. It's very annoying and the reviews I read before I bought them claimed that this didn't happen nearly as much with these. Arg. Not sure which I'll try next time around.

Hm....maybe bad luck. I cleaned my window very throughly, applied the special coating packet that came in the box, and then let thw wipers run dry for a few minutes as suggested. Further the recommend runnng Piaa silacone wipers dry for a few minutes every month or so to reapply the silcone layer, or something like that. Work for me. Best wipers I have tried.
Has anybody tried useing some oil/tar/sap remover on your glass before you put on new wipers? You might have a nasty coating of wax/road oils on you glass that is making it hard to clean your windows.
PIAA curved silacone wipers cover 100 % of my glass...no missed edges like the other non-oem aftermarket ones I have tried.

Yeah, I'm thinking maybe mine just weren't a quality pair. I followed the instructions to a T. And it streaks right in my line of sight. If it's only lightly raining/snowing, it's even worse. ::sigh::

That sucks.....I remember buying a set of as seen on tv 3 edged wipers with a 5 year warrenty back in the '90's.....same problem you have. Got my PIAA's from out motoring....somtimes I wonder if some of the realy good deals at the generic online places are counterfis....so much of that crap is around....lots of parts like brake pads etc are also commonly faked.

I was actually so pised off at the amount of wipers I have tried that i did try a rather drastic measure to clean the windshield. I used Wheel cleaner sprayed directly on the windshield then washed off with water and toweled dried. I have since put on a coat of Rejex and again changed the blades to Bosch Icons, we shall see how well they work and last. I returned the Tricoflex as they started to streak and chatter after a week of rain. UNREAL this car is very difficult to find good blades for!

Makes sense since you are removing any stuck objects that might cut up the blades.

You may have the glass too clean! Many of the new silicone wipers have you put on a coat of silicon or some material that lets the blades slide. The chatter is from it sticking to the glass.

Maybe the Rejex is helping?

It is suppose to rain tonight so we shall see how much the rejex helps,
I actually did the entire car with the rejex after I clayed it first and then did a glaze, i want to get a few good coats on before the winter, basically can do the car in an hour so it is not to bad

I have found the Trico plain Jane refills (47-600) break to fit work very nicely for about six months, but they are so cheap, just pitch and replace as needed. I do soap down my front glass, then run a 4 inch flat blade razor knife over it to clean off an little bugs or tar dots and it makes the glass very, very smooth. I also use RainX on the glass.

Just my suggestions

I use PIAA Super Silicone's, work flawlessly! Best wipers I've had...I've also read/heard good things about BOSCH Icons and Rain-X Latitudes.
