car was mod'd by last owner, what did he change?
this is probably more of a audio question but, he i go anyway...
i bought my new mini used. it has this Phatnoise mp3 jukebox thinger that is running thru the cd changer mode. its attached in the rear of the car and there are no cd changer plugs behind the head unit. are the connections set to rn to the back from the factory? the original set up has been hacked apart for this junk box thinger, and i would love to see what the thing is suppossed to look like. if anyone could double check my logic and/or hook me up with a few pics of what the typicaly set up is back there, i would be pumped! this is all coming about because i got the harmon karmon ipod attachment (drive+play?) that comes with the screen, which hooks up 2 ways the yucky FM transistor way & thru the CD changer. also adds an aux input! i know i could replace the head unit, but i really havnt found one that isnt an eye sore up there. (in hind sight, i rammble huh?) |
The R53 CD changer mounts in the rear of the vehicle as standard. So what the previous owner has done is not out of the ordinary.
You do have an option of installing an Aux input from the rear of the head unit though. There are plenty of threads on NAM about which pins to use if you want to go this way. You will find you need to unpug the small harness going to the rear of the car and hook up your own wiring to feed the Aux input which you can mount eith inthe glovebox or under the toggle switches in the centre console. Good luck, hope this helps. |
that all being said, would anyone be willing to post a few pix of the wiring set up back there.
id like to turn it back to as close to stock as possible. (the jukebox has got to go) Thankx a ton  |
