R50/53 MINI In Top 5 Sportscars
Yep, it's true - again deserved recognition for the S.
SeeNetscape Auto Channel.
And, guess what? Only 7 spots left (out of 50) for this unbelievable MINI event!

Nice 5 cars but the MINI was the only one under $20K while the others were in the $30K to $80K range. Doesn't seem fair to compare such a wide range of prices. To own, insure, and operate the MINI wins- it's number one.
Try getting 30 mpg with any of those sports cars.

I can't say I agree with their listing.
The Viper is NOT a sports car, it's a brutal Monster
The Z4 is a huge driving dissapointment; it's like driving a 3-series with oven mitts on your hands and snowmobile boots on your feet.
My Top 5 Sports Cars:
1. Porsche Boxter S
1. MINI Cooper S
3. Honda S2000
4. BMW //M3
5. Nissan 350Z
"that's my story and I'm stickin' to it!"

Agreed. Maybe I would add the Infinity G35 coupe as a slash to #5.

Does the Z4 really suck that much? I had no idea. Never driven one. I just remember reading a review or two when it came out saying that it was a nice improvement on the Z3...guess that's what I get for reading reviews!
Lots of opinions, but if you added the requirement to be able to haul a good bit of cargo (such as a St. Bernard like I do), the MINI would take the first spot hands down!

I remember describing the MCS to a friend after my test drive as a "sports car trapped in a hatchback's body." I still stick by that. I really do have a hard time calling anything with more than two seats a sports car. But the MCS DOES have the soul of something truly sporty.
And yet everyone is forgetting about the Corvette...mind you, that is car that spanked the MINI-Madness car in the Motor Trend Tuner Test...and the Corvette was stock. There are many MANY cars that belong in front of the MINI...
Car Magazine (a british car mag) gives it's top 100 cars every issue. These are their favorite cars, money no object. I'll just give you their top ten.
1) Porsche 911 Turbo
2) MINI COOPER S
3) Ferrari Enzo
4) Lamborghini Gallardo
5) Pagani Zonda C12 S (exotic, not sold in the U.S.)
6) Ferrari 360 Modena
7) BMW 330
Ferrari 575 Mranello
9) Mercedes S55 AMG
10) Mercedes E320 wagon
The base Mini was #50.
That's awesome MCS # 2. Most ofthe cars in their top ten have six figure price tags.
My ten would be: (keep in mind I pick up my MCS next week. Might finish higher once I own it)
1) Ferrari 355 or 360 Modena. (6 speed only, no paddel shifter for me.)
2) Corvette Z06
3) BMW M3 (E46)
4) Mini Cooper S
5) Maserati Spyder
6) Dodge Viper
7) Porsche 911 (turbo)
Hummer H2 (I have to drive something in the snow)
9) Panoz Esperante
10) Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution
11) Radical (race car for road racing)
I know that's 11 but if I can one day afford the top ten, I should have enough left over for number 11. Maybe enough for a 1967 427 vette & 1968 Shelby GT 500.

That really was a bit harsh. One of my friends owns a 911 and has been shopping for a used Boxster S for about the past year drove a Z4 and found it to be a much more drivable car than the Boxter. Another problem, one of the more popular forums on Boxster boards is for people on their 2nd and 3rd engines. The Boxster is apparently a mechanical disaster.
