Alright, so the Cooper S is on the waiting list, gonna be here in early December, so I have some time to change a few options if I want to... the car is Indi Blue with white racing stripes, the sports package, and maybe the premium package. I have the 17" performance wheels. Now the question is, white or silver? The white wheels look pretty good when they're cleaned well, and i am willing to clean them, but how long does it take for a white wheel to look grimy? THe wheels look great with the white roof/mirrors and racing stripes. The silver wheels look decent, but a little strange with the white roof/mirrors/stripes. But of course they wouldn't look as bad dirty as a dirty white wheel would look..... your opinions??

I like the silver 15" style. But then I am getting the chrome trim too.
I guess it all depends on your total look.

I don't think it makes much difference as far as which ones get dirtier.
Dirt loves all colors to stick too. :???:

I orginally ordered white rims for my Chili red S w/ white top and bonnet stripes. I thought the white rims would complete the look of the white roof and stripes. After thinking about it I am deciding to change the rims to silver. I'm afraid the white rims might make my S look to cutesy or clown car-ish.

AutoX4life,

I picked up my MINI two weeks ago, and the white 16" 5-spokes look great, and really pick up the white on the roof and mirrors. They look AWESOME - clean. They take about 2 days before they have plenty of brake dust, 4 days and they're covered. That's why I spray clean the tires every other day. I think the silver will definitely hide the dirt better, but I just love the look with the white and am willing to clean them frequently.

BMW is famous for its dirty brake pads - so go with the wheels you like they are going to covered in muck no matter what.

i have 17" silver on my Dk silver/White roof MCS and it looks pretty good but i am seriously looking at powder coating them to the darkest grey i can find.

I find the colours on the MINI a little jumbled with flat black in some places and shiny black in others. i am probably going to do my mirrors flat black when I do the wheels as the white and black just bothers me

I have had the R90's on my MINI, but I'll be changing tomorrow to a set of the White R84 V-spokes with Yokohama AVS ES100's. I think the white R84's should be about on par with the cleaning I was doing on the more intricate R90's.

I have the silver and they sure look dirty to me within 1 - 2 days of washing the car. I think the white looks cool with the white roof. Go for the look you want, as the dirt will annoy you no matter what.

If you already have the white thing going on I would go with the white rims....my rims are silver and regardless of what color you have the brakes create alot of dust.....they will be dirty either way so I would go with the one that matches better!

Cheers!

After 250 or so miles, i noticed that the break dust problem has decreased significantally... so i wouldn't worry...
