eager2own - I agree its almost the same price as the 2008 models. But its fully loaded. The Nav was a huge plus for me as well. But as much as I wanted a manual....the pedal shifters are pretty fun to use!

MichaelSF - you hit it right in the spot. CA tax is ridiculous.
Got my Mini yesterday, 2006 Mini Cab. Has Mini warranty to June 2010 or 27,000 miles.

Although a private party purchase, California taxes and fees will add about $2500 to the price I paid.

On your car I did look up certified pre owned at Mini, out of curiosity. That's a nice add on. I think it covers your car for two years, 24,000 miles.

If people are paying $1500 to $2000 for worthless extended warranties [aftermarket], in my book your CPO is worth at least that much.

So that's about $4000 to $5000 additional on taxes and the CPO value. And yours was fully loaded.

My Mini dealer here in San Francisco charges a lot for its CPO cars, the ones that are loaded.

Was that way with my CPO 740i I bought from the dealer. I paid a premium for a CPO factory warranty. Plus they added a lot for the options it had. Had a Nav. [A Nav system in 1999-2000 was about a $5000 item back then.] I think I paid $1500 extra just for the included Nav in the car. I admit it was one of the reasons I wanted that particular car.

But was worth the money for the peace of mind the CPO warranty provided and I had one of the few BMWs [or any car] in 1999 that had a Nav.

Bottom line, you got a great deal. Truth be told, I have not shed my Nav desires from my old BMW days. I wish the Mini I just bought had the Nav. I love that. I would have paid $1500 more for it to have been in my car, maybe even $2000 since I am an electronics addict.

A nice Garmin would be $800 here in the City or online, so built in, that's uber cool.

For all the nice things I am saying in support, why don't you rip that sucker out and send it to me. I'll give you my speedo, of course.
