R50/53 DSC - Opinions?
On the DSC - does that safety option mean significant heavier weight, or is it mainly electronic?
Is it worthwhile for average to/from driving, or does it apply more to serious racing at extreme speeds or driving conditions?
Is it worth the 4 bills?
Have read the literature and have ordered this for my MC, but I have a few more days to bail out on this one and put the 4 bills elsewhere.
Still need eduacation on this. Have searched this topic, no luck.
Opinions? Thanks!

Cosquilla, Welcome to MCO!
There are actually quite a few threads on this (be sure you're using the forum search function which is linked just to the right of the thread name on this screen...there's also a how-to stickied to the top of most forums).
Two of the more recent ones I'm aware of are How are you liking your DSC? and DSC On or Off?. Both are several pages long and have lots of info and opinions (in some cases, info and opinion overlap to positive effect
)
Be aware of the fact that DSC and ASC (traction control) are actually two different systems. On cars with DSC, traction control is incorporated into the DSC system. IMO (I have an S with DSC), the DSC is fine, but the traction control implementation is awful. Its eagerness to cut power...often when pulling out into busy lanes of traffic...is annoying and often downright dangerous. BUT, this isn't a function of Stability Control (DSC). Therefore, it's something that can happen with any MINI with ASC as well as DSC. I suspect it's worse on the S due to more power and torque. MINI needs to do some work on the programming of this system...
Good luck!
