1. The cup holders under the switches won't even hold a regular size drive thru drink
2. The rear view mirror is pretty small
3. Dunlop tires squeal quite a bit while turning
4. You can here the exhaust better if you fold down the rear seats.
5. My rental had 20K miles and was an '02, still very quick and solid, great brakes.
6. Car is an absolute blast to drive hard and very soothing and relaxing when
driving at a normal leisurely pace. The sound of the engine is very sweet.
7. This car is in a class all its own, I've driven the Focus SVT and the GTI 1.8T and
GTI V6, the Focus is fast but won't last, the VW's are a little quicker but just
don't have the personality and character the MINI has.
8. I am very envious and jealous of everyone here who gets to drive their MINI
every day.

Oh yeah, you can even rent people in Vegas!

Front cupholders hold a 12 oz can of soda or a 500ml water bottle quite well. Otherwise, they are best used to hold change and other assorted little bits.

Best technuqie is to learn how to get your fast food soda from the middle "rear" cup holder which is significantly larger, or learn to enjoy smaller beverages.

I wonder, does the Hummer 2 have cupholders to hold a 44oz slurpee? I bet not.

Here are some additional comments

>>1. The cup holders under the switches won't even hold a regular size drive thru drink
Stick to regular 12 ounce cans or better yet- do you drinking outside the car and leave the driving for the inside of the car.
Or you can use the rear cup holder if really needed.
>>2. The rear view mirror is pretty small
Replace it with a 270mm broadway mirror- flat- this will make the mirror really wide.

>>3. Dunlop tires squeal quite a bit while turning
Pirelli runflats near make any sound for me no matter how hard I drive.

>>4. You can here the exhaust better if you fold down the rear seats.
Replace the exhaust so you can really hear it- try a Magnaflow or Quicksilver and if you like soft then Borla is better than stock.

>>5. My rental had 20K miles and was an '02, still very quick and solid, great brakes.
The chassis is very rigid and should be quick and solid for many years but some rattles will develop- stick to smooth roads.
The brakes are OK, nothing to write home about. If you drive hard and brake hard you can make them fade and on the track you can make your brake fluid boil.
>>6. Car is an absolute blast to drive hard and very soothing and relaxing when
>> driving at a normal leisurely pace. The sound of the engine is very sweet.
Add a cold air intake and the supercharger sound will be louder.

>>7. This car is in a class all its own, I've driven the Focus SVT and the GTI 1.8T and

It's all about handling- which is excellent in a MINI- esp on windy roads.

On curves try driving twice the posted speed limit and get the car up to about 4000-6000 in 2nd through 5th gears- that is where the fun begins. 3rd gear is great at about 70mph.

Have fun but be safe.

Time to buy one or rent one on a regular basis.

I ordered an S two weeks ago from the dealer in Denver and I hadn't even driven one yet. Getting an DS/DS with HK and nothing else. Still debating on sunroof and
color. The sun is awful hot here in Vegas, and I'll have less hair on my head year after year so I don't know what to do. I thought college and career decisions were tough but this car thing is driving me nuts.

How exciting for you! Congratulations on the order. When did they think the car would be delivered? If it's in November, join me in the "can't wait 4 November club" .. I placed my order 3 weeks ago and was told delivery by the end of November. but if yours will be here in October, then join the October Club! It's a great place to hang out and share the "waiting blues" !!

and BTW, that DS/DS will look great!

and In our November club, so far we have 3 members, one with a white roof and the other two have same color roofs. If you join then there will be 1 white roof and 3 same color roofs! We could be the group with the most same color roof MINIs!!!

Actually, the rearview mirror is exactly the right size. When you first get in, it seems really small, but you get used to the size. If you really look at it, and have it adjusted properly, you can see both rear pillars and all of the rear window through the mirror. If it were any bigger, you would be seeing out the side rear windows!

I use Click and Clack's method to adjust all three mirrors, and it really works! Check it out and say good-bye to blind spots!

no more blind spots

I've got a sunroof in Florida....I put a nice dark tint
on that and the windows. Go with the sunroof.

I have the dunlop SP 9000's and I still to this day can't get them to sqeal. Grant it, I came from these odd Goodyear's that sqealed going around a turn at 60mph. I guess if you push any tire they will eventually sound. I think the dunlops are great. No problems and nice tread design .

Thats the first thing I did to my mini, it helps a lot! I can't drive without it, well I could but it would be annoying...
