I have been planning this for months now. I am going on a road trip that will (most likely) take me from my home in Houston around the gulf coast and east coast ending at Niagra in New York. Has anyone else done this? And if so, where?

I say: Go for it! Have fun with your MINI! Don't coddle it or be too precious with it! Most of all, LET'S MOTOR!!!

Cheers!

8 miles on the odometer when I picked it up. 1778 miles on it when I pulled into the driveway at home. I purchased my MINI in NY at Westchester MINI and drove back to Denver.

Picked up my MINI from the dealership in Florida with 6 miles on it and drove it home to California arriving with approax 2,300 miles in it with no problem.
I'd say Motor on!

I'm from Pa. We picked our MCS up in Pompano Beach July 8th, drove to Key West, spent 5 days and then drove back up the west coast of Fla. to Hylton Head, SC then on home to Pa. 1996 miles, 30mpg, drove like a dream, but not the number 1 cross country tourer from a comfort perspective, but that was expected. Love the car.

I've put 400 miles on the car this week alone, just got it on Monday. I can't help myself...just love to go and drive around. Started doing canyon drives along the Colorado Front Range.... ....that is how I look every time I go into a corner. Going on a drive again today with some friends from another local car club...and we are going to try to get some "rolling" pictures. If they turn out good enough, I will post them. Not like you all haven't seen picutres of Minis before, but what the heck. I bet I will have near 2 K miles just after the first month alone since I just love to drive everywhere in it. Does that feeling ever wear off? Or does the joy stay around for those who have had theuir Mini for quite some time now?

Anyway, I plan on a Road Trip to Tucson from Denver sometime soon to visit family...that should be fun.

cheers
jon

Purchased at Westchester in NY and immediately drove home to St. Louis stopping in Fredricksburg Va. to swap wheels and on to W. Va. for golf and mountain driving. With 1300 miles on the odometer and the break in period put to rest, the Bee pulled into the Hive only to leave a couple of weeks later on a 3000 mile vacation to the southeast ( for Mini Meet East 2002 ), Deal's Gap, the outer banks, back to W. Va. and back home again.
This year the Bee has revisited Deals Gap and again made it to Mini Meet East 2003 in Magog Canada. After years of cross country driving in a Miata, the Bee is like touring in a Minivan on rails.
Just vary your speed a lot during your break in period and enjoy your new friend.

I drove my MINI like crazy when I first got it, so after I got about 2500 miles on it, I changed the oil (myself) then headed from MD to Orlando via Atlanta and back racking up about another 2500 miles. All of this happened in little over a month's time. The car performed flawlessly and made it seem like that much more of a vacation for me and my partner.

I did, and I can't seem to stop!!!!
HELP!!!!!
I picked up my MINI at Roadshow MINI in Memphis, TN, in January of this year, and did a 3-day drive back home to Galveston, TX, along the Natchez Trace Parkway and other places. It was a great bonding experience! Almost completed the breakin on this trip.
Then, in April I drove to Seattle and back, over 5k miles.
Yesterday, I got back from a 5000 mile trip all the way up to Maine.
Celeste (my 03 MCS) has seen well over half of the States in the United...
I've had her since January and put 20k miles on her.
I can't stop driving.
Help!!!!!!

I'm doing a road trip as well. Flying to RoadShow in Memphis, and driving back to California, but hitting the northern states, instead of driving straight across Texas. I want to see South Dakota, Montana, Oregon, etc..

Were your cars completely black and encrusted with dirt when you returned? Did you wash on the road? How did you deal with that?

Also did any of you wait to apply stripes to your car AFTER you returned from your roadtrip?

Thanks!

I took off with my wife and two kids from Columbus Ohio to Knoxville TN (for Christmas)very soon after buying the MINI and had a great time. The only problem was trying to get home with all those Christmas presents in the car!!

The roads were horrible but the MINI did great, we could've driven our Range Rover but decided to give the MINI a try and honestly, it was'nt bad at all!
