Has anyone had their MINI's glove box open up while driving, especially on a bumpy road? It's only been a couple days that this has been going on but it's starting to get on my nerves.

It seems the latch isn't grabbing or holding properly and it's easily coming loose. I have the glove box organizer and don't have much stuff in there either. Please advise...HELP.

I've had mine pop open a few times. The saying goes "it's a really big bump if the glove box pops open"

BMW has a history of crappy glove-box designs, I'm annoyed to see the MINI's no different.

Superglue, or perhaps velcro!

Hate to tell you this Pooky, but that ain't gonna get better on its own. As a matter of fact, it's only going to get worse, and you're only going to get more annoyed. You need a new glovebox. Yep, a whole new glovebox...but don't worry, it's under warranty, and it's about a 20 minute job at the dealer.

My first COOP had that problem. And it got so bad that I was embarassed to drive it with anyone else in the car for fear that they'd get a hard whack on the knees. Also, I had no organizer, so when it popped open, everything went flying....

Just get it fixed. You'll be happy!

Thanks for the suggestions guys!

For the time being I will use velcro temporarily as I have just been to the dealership last week for a gallon of coolant and a couple quarts of oil (just in case of fluid emergencies ya know). I think I know how I'll be able to get this issue taken care of until my next important trip to the dealer for a possible replacement.

Mine starting popping open at 2400 miles. I am going to try to loosen the two screws holding the "bar" and move it out so the latch hits it better.

Will let you know after I try. Anything then going back to a dealer!

Just adjusted the bar back and forth (7mm socket wrench) and no luck. I cannot get it to latch properly.

Now I realize my wife was right. It never latched. Friction was keeping it closed!

Off to the dealer!

(Perhaps this thread should be moved to "Under The Bonnet&quot
