Today July 26 is the day of Seattle Seafair Torchlight parade. Seafair They will have a long comedy commercial featuring a Seafair Clown, the UW Husky Marching Band, and a Seafair Pirate Seafair Pirates Website(ME!) and my MINI is also in the commercial. Pretty cool, I hope I do not look like a fool, but then again, .. oh well. Have not seen the commercial, so it will all be a surprise to me too.. I believe that it will be a couple of minutes long. It took two days and 6 hours total to shoot. First time I ever done that, it was a blast. It will broadcast today on channel 7 KIRO TV I think starting at 6:30 pm Watch KIRO 7 For SEAFAIR Coverage
Abour the Torchlight Parade:
In its 54th year, the Southwest Airlines Torchlight Parade at SEAFAIR appeals to all ages. More than 300,000 spectators make their way to downtown Seattle's Fourth Avenue for an evening of civic celebration.
More than 100 parade units will travel over 2.5 miles from the Seattle Center to South King Street. Some of the highlights for this year's Southwest Airlines Torchlight Parade at SEAFAIR include: the SEAFAIR Clowns and Pirates, beautifully illuminated and elaborate floats, giant Macy's-style helium balloons so big that they require an average of 20 handlers each, Miss SEAFAIR, local dance and drill teams including the Dangerettes and the Electronettes, military representatives and the Seattle Police Department's Motorcycle Drill team which signifies the start of the parade just after the Torchlight Run each year.

Us Seafair Pirates are a comedy team, people have called us several other things on top of fools, ie: the last best cheezy thing Seattle has, or the bad boys of seafair, or the sound of seafair ( we shoot canons) ... but we have fun. Around these parts, we get treated like celebraties as we have been doing this gimmick for 54 years. ...aaarrrggghhhh
oh, on other thing, unlike other parade groups that run down the middle of the street, we attack and work the crowds, which is why we are what most of the people come to see.. It's a Seattle thing, hard for others to understand.
What a blast the Torchlight parade was, I will post pics on the http://www.seafairpirates.org website soon, there were over 300.000 spectators in attendance for this parade. It is 2.5 mile log parade starting at the Space Needle, ending at Pioneer Square. For us old middle aged guys, it is amazing that we can do this high energy romp on such a hot summer night, but with all the cheering fans, we did it easily. It is interesting that nearly half of the crowd packs up and leaves after they see us pass. Many will come to see the parade just to see the Seafair Pirates and the Seafair Clowns, and we get the most air time on television. THe times article will give you an idea if how this nearly perfect night was..
