HELP!!! My car won't start!

I just stopped by the house on my way out tonight and when I went out to leave, nothing. All the dash lights work...and I hear the fuel pump working when I turn the key, but no attempt to crank. Where do I need to look first? My wife is out of town and I have to get to work tomorrow.

Thanks!

Disconnect a battery cable for a couple of minutes and then reconnect, maybe it'll reset something...

Clutch safety switch? Prevents starting with the clutch out. It might have come loose/gone out of adjustment. It's mounted on the clutch master cylinder. Follow the pushrod from the clutch pedal.

That was going to be my first suggestion too.

Original battery? Minis do some strange things when they drop a cell and the battery goes south. My 05 MCS wouldnt even jump start when its battery died. Dropped in a new one, and all was good after that. Similar thing as yours, would get dash lights, etc, but nothing when you turned the key to crank. With it being an 04, I'd check there first, if you can get it to a store to test.

Thanks for the help. It was so dark last night that I couldn't see well. I went out this morning and the plug on the clutch safety switch had come out. Plugged it in and good as new!

One of the first things that MINI changed when I bought the car was the battery. He told me that they were recalled because of going dead instantly. Very strange. Thanks for the advice!
