My wife's nephew is in town from Sao Paulo and we've been doing the tourist thing for the last two weekends. Weekend before last, we went to LA and this past weekend, we went to Flagstaff and on up to the Grand Canyon on Saturday returning that afternoon back to Flag.
Flagstaff isn't a large town by most standards. I'm guessing there's about 55,000 who live there. Anyway, on Saturday night, we met some relatives at the Beaver Street Brewery for dinner. As we walked through the parking lot, we see a brand new MCS with temp. tags. I turned to my wife and asked her, "What color is Carrie's car?" Carrie is my wife's director who picked up her MCS on Friday. We knew that she was supposed to be in Flagstaff over the weekend. For those who aren't familiar with Arizona, the highcountry is quite a drastic change from PHX. In about 90-minutes, you can go from desert to the highcountry where it's quite cooler and calmer than PHX. It's a great weekend place to go to escape PHX's heat. My wife said her car was blue and I told her, "Then that's got to be Carrie's car". Sure enough, we walk in and there's Carrie and her family having dinner. She was so excited about the car that she could barely eat. It was so funny! Now... if the truck would finally deliver mine. Guess it beats waiting on the local dealer for another two/three months but the wait is killing me! Oh yeah... new signature is below. I'll reduce the size a little and I want to make one or two small changes but I incorporated the Arizona state flag, the Superman "S" under MiniCooper (for MCS obviously) along with the color change in Arizona which represents the heat here. |
   . Flagstaff is beautiful! We jsut bought 40 acres in Snowflake so Flagstaff is our closest big city!

What's the long term plan for the 40? Retirement home? Vacation home? Just wanted some land? That's pretty cool...literally.
BTW, I assume your real name is Robyn? I also have a 14-year old daughter who is a Robyn. |

>> >>Chow! Hhmm.... well, ther are about 3,500,000 in Maricopa County and in the near future, PHX will overtake Philly as the 5th largest city in the US. But, there are only about 55,000 in Flagstaff. Now, I guess we'd also have to consider the odds of having a boss who also bought a MCS. Too complicated. I'm going to get a donut. TCHAU!!!!! |
There are lots of places in northern AZ that will be fun to drive in a Mini. The drive from Flagstaff down to Sedona through Oak Creek Canyon would be great, for example.
In southern AZ, the drive from Tucson up to Mt. Lemmon would have been fun in a Mini until the Aspen Fire burned everything down. I used to spend summers in Tucson with my grandparents and often think about how much fun it would be to drive my Mini in Arizona. ...Maybe we should keep this all to ourselves in the Mini community, so the roads don't get crowded with lumbering RVs. |

A group of us just did the Oak Creek Caynon, Sedona, and Jerome just a month ago. A week ago we motored all over the Tucson, Tombstone and Bisbee area! Check out Regional Events: South West for more information! there's picture posted in the galleries too! |

>> Yesterday, we came down from Flagstaff towards Sedona in my wife's PT. About a mile south of the campgrounds, there was a Ford pickup completely blocking the road. We were the second ones on the scene. Others said the driver was OK so we did a three point turn and headed back towards Flagstaff. We didn't meet an officer until we were almost back to Ft. Tuthill. We went down the interstate and took the south way into Sedona! I suspect we did the right thing quickly turning around and we got bonus points for going up and down the mountain twice. Of course I had to give points back for being in the Cruiser. |
