Don't you hate it when someone parks next to your MINI pointlessly?

I visited my insurance agent today and the parking lot was plain empty except where it's close to the entrance to the office building.

Being a new owner, I decided to walk a little and parked the car at the far end of the lot where there were no cars parked.

After registering the vehicle, I came out to see this guy parking his car RIGHT NEXT to my car when there are no cars parked anywhere near my vehicle.

I just hate finding unexpected door dings and scratches here and there.
When my beater (93 325is) used to be my only car, I took so much caution
not to damage other cars and mine, yet others dented my fuel cap, bumper, the list goes on and on.

I know there are always going to be morons out there,
but i just feel sick that some people simply don't even try to be careful.

If I see another MINI parked by itself, I'll make a point of parking
(carefully of course) right next to it.
I like seeing a pair of them side by side.

In that case, I would love that too :)

Hey, that's like someone taking the urinal right next to you when there are plenty others available.

MiniMaybee Jan 25, 2008 06:22 AM

I think of it as a complement - both parking and urinal - as long as I don't get a door ding from either.

Speedwing Jan 25, 2008 06:23 AM

eager2own ..... I guess that's MINI envy!

Both very funny -- but in my case, Speedwing, it's mini envy (has nothing to do with the MINI)

Unfortunately, the MINI seems to be a magnet for people. A compliment yes - but don't get in my bubble - LOL!! :)

A clear breach of men's restroom etiquette.

Omg I hate it when people do that! I would have kindly left a note that said "Please don't park by me if I'm not parked by you. ;)"

Not long after I got my MINI, I saw one parked kida out of the pack in a parking lot. I parked on the opposite spot, went into the store to go about my business. Came back out and found two more MINIs parked with us. Owners nowhere to be found. This was back in '03, when they were not nearly as plentiful.

BlackdogTurbo Jan 25, 2008 09:39 AM

Huh - its good to know Minis have herding behavior before I pick mine up next week. Perhaps I should get him a buddy?

Mini's travel in packs, not herd's. They are also indigenous to awesome people.

Happens to me all the time. Drives me nuts*.:impatient
Wife does a LMAO and says "your car just attracts people":)

edit: *MINIs are the exception, then it's cool, as I assume they'll be as careful about my car as I will about theirs.

I make an effort to park by other MINIs, as long as they're parked in good spots.

We find that Home Depot is a particularly bad lot for people pointlessly parking near our MINIs when there is an abundance of empty spots. It's happened to me at Costco too. The worst is when it's some old beat-up icky car that someone went out of their way to park next to mine and walk the extra steps.

something to do with gravitational force or something...

like people getting run over while fixing their flat tire on the side of the road
while there is barely any traffic.

kyriian Jan 25, 2008 03:20 PM

you people and your straight in spots! i hate it most is when im in downtown (like i am today), people park aimlessly close to you, in parallel! at one point i refilled the meter and went back to my car, the gentleman behind me parked with 2 inches of room between my rear bumper and his front bumper! i looked behind there's a foot of room behind him!

then when i was leaving, a smart car was parked 3 inches behind me, again, leaving more than a foot behind!

i gotta do a through inspection tomorrow to make sure nothing's bent or broken

It is very strange why people do such things. A awhile back I had to take a shower at my gym in one of the those 10 shower stalls. I picked the one in the corner so I was not in the view of the people getting changed. While I was washing off the soap I felt shampoo hitting me. When I opened my eyes there was some super tall fat guy standing 2" away from from me and starring at me. It was so weird because there were 9 other shower heads he could have chosen but he chose the one next to me!!! I was so grossed out and left ASAP, I still had soap on me.
I would have taken a door ding over the shower stalker

I always go for an end parking space out in the boonies of the lots. I suck the curb for extra protection. Three times I've come back out to find a Hummer :impatient right next to me. I think it an envy thing.
