Hey guys,

Well, the Mini has seen better days.:mad:

It has some body damage, mainly a badly dented driver's side door that needs to be replaced, the right side of the front fender is cracked, there's also a minor scrape/dent on the left side of the car under the s-emblem from a jackass in a pickup truck in PA:mad:

Also, it was repaired after an incident in my driveway where it was backed into another car.

It's an 05 Cooper S, 57 going on 58k miles. The clutch was replaced early on because I didn't know how to drive stick and destroyed it. Also, the backseat was removed, but I still have that.

Although it doesn't count for anything towards the value, I have a 19% pulley installed by Helix and a Monster Mini Intake (I still have the stock air box somewhere.) Also have the cold weather package with heated seats and a bunch of other packages I don't know off the top of my head.

It has LSD also. I'll have to look at the original sticker again.

I need to trade it in pretty soon, as I need something with four doors and all wheel drive for the winter (thinking older Impreza)...may make a sacrifice on a Wrangler too. I go back and forth too much.

It's not gonna get anywhere near KBB or Galves value because of the damage, and I know and accept that.

I'm not gonna be an idiot and ask for what it should be worth in those books because of the damage to the body.

Car still runs fine, and most of the miles were highway going to Philadelphia, Massachusetts, and driving to my own community college as well as the Jersey shore.

Anyway, I was just wondering what any of you guys would
HYPOTHETICALLY pay for it. I want a realistic assessment so to speak.

Sounds like the car needs lots of body work. Perhaps some pictures to see how bad it is would help determine the value.

Hahahaha, yes it def. needs some body work. I'm not gonna post pictures right now because the weather is so dismal and I need to get a wash, so it really wouldn't help any. The body work that's needed is probably a new bumper and a new driver's side door. The other dent can buff out from what most body guys have told me.

and does this mean that you learned to drive stick right after, or is the car being sold with body damage and a second clutch that has been abused since the last replacement :wink:

I don't think anyone is selling at KBB even when their cars are in excellent condition -- so you wouldn't be getting that anyways. As others have pointed out, there's no way of telling what the car is worth without seeing the damage. . . so pics would help. (as well as knowing what other packages / options you have -- sport and premium packages will make a difference)

You might be better off fixing the damage and replacing the back seat before selling it.

19% pulley would make me very hesitant to buy it, but most buyers won't know it is there is you replace the stock intake and make everything else look stock.

If people think it is a car that a college kid has trashed,stripped out to be a street racer, they are going to look for another car.

As an estimate, I'd guess you would get no more than half of the lowest blue book value in its current state.

in montreal the valus of car is much more so for and 2004 the value is about
24.000$ canadian dollard..

Edmonds is a good place to start - ran a quick price check on 58K with damage

Yeah my guess was going to be between $8-10k with the damage. I'd like to see photos of the damage though...you might end up ahead if you repair it and then sell it.

a person would have to factor in the cost to repair and how much that would truly add to the value. does the owner have the cash to do the repair then 'hope' they can get it back out of the sale or better to just dump it.. either way too bad,

I think it is worth more than stated above. I see salvage title cars older, and not running go for more than that on ebay every month.

List it on ebay, with an honest discription, and lots of pics. You would probably be surprised what it would bring in.
