Hey there!

This is a thread to support the mental health of the people on MCO who haven't even ordered their cars yet. Or am I the only one?

I've been obsessing over getting an MCS for about 6 months now, and I've spent countless hours on MCO and MINIUSA checking out all the FL dealers, mods, options, etc. I'm relocating to FL next month, and I'm waiting to get a new job and organize the finances before I put my order in.

So, all you future MINI owners, do you feel my pain?

hildymac Jun 29, 2003 09:44 AM

I'm feeling it. My ordering my MC is all relative to when I get employed at a school around here. And, considering the fact that NO SCHOOLS in the metro ATL area want/need social studies teachers, well... yeah. It's going to be a little while before I get my car. But I look at it this way - at least the one I'll be ordering will be a '04. Bad thing is, is that I'm sure that the color that I want will change in my head for the 100th time - gone from Velvet Red/white to BRG/white to Indi Blue/white to now black/white. Darn my color ADD. At least my list of options has stayed rather constant.

Yeah, I've been closely following the threads about the options for '04. No more VR, Electric B on the MC, PW on the MCS, and something about a beige interior color. I wonder how long it will take MINI to update their configurator to reflect the '04 options. I can't wait! (Yes, I'm a MINI obsessed dork.)

Thanks countrym for starting this thread. I finally have a place to share my pain.

I was on the list back in January of last year. My dealer is the only one for hundreds of miles, so the list was very long. I was told it would probably be the end of summer or later before I could even order. In April my wife got pregnant

I think we should also start a "Can't wait for MINI to fix the Stumble" thread also.

sorry 'bout the No-MINI thing, too.

I am waiting here with you! I have a 2001 Honda Accord 2-Door V-6 Coupe. Over the holidays I realized I had 1 year to find another car because the lease is up in Dec and I have to return the car in Jan. Well with in about 2 weeks I'd fallen in love with the MINI. Now I have to wait until Sept / Oct to order it so it arrives when my lease is up.

I've done just about everything to pass the time. I bought a model MINI and it sits on my desk at work. I have the mouse pad and magnets. I have a red bucket hat and a black/white MINI T-Shirt. Now all I need is the car!!!!

My "Madeline" will be a MCS Chili Red / White roof / White Stripes / Union Jack
16" X-Lites, Xenons, Fogs, DSC, MFSW, Auto AC, and Aero Kit.

Countrym,
I feel your pain too! You want to move and get established in a new job before taking on new payments!

I applaude you!
You are more responsible than I am.

I think if it were me, I'd have bought the MINI and just moved it with me to Florida.

See that explains why I've been in the financial ditch a couple times in my life!!!!

Pebbles, I hear ya.

I'm trying hard to avoid that financial ditch! I know by waiting 'til Spring I'm doing the right thing. I'll have a lot larger downpayment, so our monthly payments will be smaller and my wife should be established in a part-time job by then.

However, I surf the net trying to find low interest rates on a 7 year loan so I can afford the payments NOW!
I even bought a lottery ticket the other day (which I never do.) My 15 y.o. son saw it laying on the table and asked my wife, "What's this?" My wife said, "Oh, your dad just decided to buy one."
He shook his head and said, "Man, he must be really desperate to get that MINI."
Boy does he have my number.

MINIsota -

I applaude you too!

You are doing the right thing. You are waiting insted of putting your family in a financial bind. With your new baby and your wife working at home full time, it's so worth the wait! There is no more rewarding job than being a full time Mommy. The hours suck, the pay sucks more, and many times there's no appreciation from others ... but what she'll get in return is priceless. The longer she can do it the better firm foundation you are giving your child that will last him the rest of his life.

and just think, it may really be best to wait a year. By then your baby will be able to sit really good in his car seat. You give him one of those play steering wheels and he'll be there "driving" too. What fun!

Everyone loves motoring in a MINI!!!

A 7 year loan ?!?!

I've never heard of a car loan longer than 60 months. Where do you get a 7 year loan?

MINISPIDER Jun 30, 2003 08:37 AM

they do have a 72 month option....

countrym Jun 30, 2003 01:04 PM

Today, my desire for a MINI Cooper S is an 8 out of 10. :???:

>>I've never heard of a car loan longer than 60 months. Where do you get a 7 year loan?

I've found several sights on the internet, as well as, my local credit union. 72 months (6 years) seems to be the maximum most will go for a vehicle in the MINI's price range. To get the extra year you ussually end up paying about 2% more interest - which coupled with the extra year amounts to about $1,500 - $2,000 more for the whole package. :???:

BMW said they offer 7-8 year loans, but only for vehicles over $40,000.

I guess Tom Petty was right. "The waiting IS the hardest part."

Pebbles,
Thank you so much for the kind words.
My wife loved that you described it as, "working at home full time." I try to show her appreciation, but I'm sure I fall short sometimes. You're right that it is worth the wait - and when I've waited this long, what's a few more months.

Let's hear from some more people that are lurking on here. There must be a lot of people reading these boards that have a MINI somewhere in their future, but they're just not sure when that dream will become a reality.
