When we turn on the headlamps on the mini, the headlights come on and the 2 lamps under the headlights come on as well. The one between the fog and headlights.
Well.. one of them is broken but my indicator lights in the same housing is working fine!
Other new cars don't even have the lamp that we have, does anyone have a NYS inspection checklist?

Sometimes I am GLAD that here in IL they don't care what you drive. On the other hand I do not want a piece of junk falling apart in front of me.

I have an 05 Cooper with factory fogs, and that housing unit that holds the turn indicator also holds that other light. Now the bad news, you can change the TI within mins, but the other light is changed by taking OFF the bumper skin. My dealer changed mine once while they had it apart for other reasons.Originally Posted by peekinde

Good Luck.
Well the place is brought it for inspection said they could change it but it turns out that the wiring is no good, not the bulb!

Yes you failed because one of your marker lights (the other light in the indicator housing) is out. Replace the bulb and go back and get it inspected. I believe one of the requirements for inspection is working marker lights.

Not sure about other states but in NY if you have a light, even if it is aftermarket it has to work. Of course if you have a mechanic that you've used for a long time it doesn't usually matter. I found this out after using a coupon and had an aftermarket fog lamp out. Guy tried to get me to pay for whole new set of lights to pass me. Thats what I get for trying to save a buck.
Just get a new bulb. There are 2 of them in there.
I just picked up my car today, my mechanic said the bulb went on for a couple of seconds when it was there overnight so he passed me =D
So its probably because of the humidity that shorted the lights.
But I was charged $40 for new windshield wipers to pass the inspection!
I thought it was rip off since I coulda gotten it at walmart for 4 bucks. But when I saw the car... they were insane! and made the car look so frigin 10x hoter.
Go check them out.. anco contours
