Going to the drive-in

Hey guys,

So i'm going on a double date with my mini and a girl to a drive in movie. The movie sound is broadcasted over AM radio and I'm worried about battery life of the car if I have the engine off the entire time. So lets say I stay for 2 movies and maybe thats around 4 hours if just the radio on. Will I be okay?

Armrest up or down?

Should be just fine. Just don't run anything but the radio... If I remember correctly you can shut off the car, then hit the radio power button and just the radio will come on.
If you do run out of juice the drive in probably has a jumper for you... I know they do here.

You'll be fine, just turn off the car, take your key out, and press the power button on your radio. (Remember, it turns off automatically every 20minutes.) My local club did a drive in night, we had 4 cars with our radios on for a nice surround sound. None of us killed our batteries.

Stickshifts and safetybelts,
Bucket seats have all got to go.
When we're driving in the car,
It makes my baby seem so far.
I need you here with me,
Not way over in a bucket seat.
I need you to be here with me,
Not way over in a bucket seat.
I need my baby next to me.

I though some cake lyrics would be good here, and its the truth. It gets kinda annoying when driving the mini when the lady is around, I have more important things to do than shift gears, lol

and take a nice battery powered radio, so you dont have to risk it

The thing you have to worry about is being able to see out of your mini if you are sitting in it =) my friend and i went and had a hard time finding out ways to get Comfortable while watching. BUT you will have lots for fun i love drive ins.

Having you car not start is perfect! With any luck AAA will give you an extra hour or so before they show up to give you a jump.

Took the MCS to a drive-in last weekend. Backed into our spot, sat in a two person loveseat/lawnchair, kept the hatch open, and left the key turned on the 1 position for powering the radio. No problems through 2 movies, and easier than trying to see through the windshield...

With the hatch open I hope there wasn't anyone parked behind you :impatient. Use a portable radio if you're worried about the car's battery. However, you may want to be stranded for a few hours....

What song is that? It almost reads like Springsteen lyrics.

I checked the "line of sight" from the row behind me, and the hatch didn't obscure their view. Plus, they had the hatch open on their hatchback as well.

We all had our doors open at our drive in, the cars behind us were backed in, and the cars in front were head in, so when the doors were open the door speakers pointed directly at us. We all sat in the middle of our cars on 'parade chairs'.

It's by the band CAKE, I think it's called stick shifts and safety belts.
Great songs by them!

Best drive in movie mashine ever, 1963 Rambler, the front seats scooted forward, the back of the front seat folded flat with the back seats, just like a big double bed. Wahoo!
