My ’64 Mini years ago was red. May not be Chili Red of today, but red none the less. The red is HOT.

As far as the inside goes, maybe you could find someone with a dark colour interior and get the “Trading Spaces” people to do a switch for you. Just make sure Vern’s not doing your car or it’ll end up in Fung Schway.

CAN U FEEL THE HEAT !!!!

See... I'm not a red person overall...I never bought shoes or clothes that shows red on it. Also, I wouldn't of choose a red color for other cars like the Civic SIR, CELICA, or C230 Kompressor.... but when I first saw the CHILI RED w/ white top MINI in the Catalog... I fell in love with that color combo ... GOD my MINI is soooooo special !

Personally I think he was just jealous. Red is just a classic MINI/Mini color. When I think of an old Mini, the first color that comes to mind is Red!

What you need to do is take him to a track (or AutoX event) and kill is girl car. That will put him in his place. Or better yet, survey all the beautiful women you see as to which car they would rather get in with a guy and show a picture of both of your cars side by side. See who wins.

My MINI has been called "cute" on many occasions and part of the stigma is that a lot of people (at least in the US) don't understand the history or the performance of the car. However, once you take someone for a spin in it, it stops being just "cute" and defies words. Go take a real driving class (like an AutoX class or something that teaches you racing techniques) and then take your brother for a ride.

Yeah ... racing class is definitely a must for me... I still have to master my manual transmission skills for now ..... sigh ~~
i feel sooo bad about my manual tranny skills... My mom ( in her late 40s) can drive a manual better than I do ... SHE CAN EVEN HEEL-TOE or whatever you call it.... you won't understand how bad it feels to NOT be the one whodrives the MINI of the dealer's lot when it arrives ...

I feel much better when thinking thatmy brother's car is not even a Manual tranny sports car.... how can you release 349 Hp of power with an automatic ???

MANUAL 4 LIFE !!!!!

I'm sure it's the white top that throws them. If anyone claims red isn't a cool, masculine color, gently remind him/her what color Ferraris are supposed to be.

And what harm is there in a guy driving a car that appeals to women? There must be certain advantages. I've had more women just walk up to me and ask about the car since I've had mine. Hasn't gotten me any dates yet, but I'm certain it doesn't hurt.

Every MINI color is a "guy" color. And a girl color.

I think you should have punched him.

It's not too late.

Regards,
Red

Pop him in the nose, then ask him what color leaks out. Does that make HIM a girl?

Color choice does not equal gender or sexuality. I'm a girl that happens to hate red, especially on cars. But on certain cars like the MINI...it's a beautiful thing!

When I was deciding on the color of my MCS, I was open to black, pure silver, dark silver, or indi blue with black or white top. But that's my own tastes

I originally had ordered British Racing Green with a white top and wheels until the SoCal MINI Club had a Sunday drive that ended up in Julian, CA and there were about 40 MINI’s of every color combination parked around town. Whereas I saw a BRG/W and liked it, there was a brand new CR/W and white 17” S-lites that in my biased opinion was the sharpest looking of the bunch. I called the next day and changed the color to CR/W and white S-lites. I still like it and it gets lots of favorable comments. My wife likes the BRG and PS better.

I remember reading an opinion poll around 20 years ago where women said men who drive red cars were seen as sexier than others.

Also, I know of a couple guys named Schumacher and Barrichello who might have an opinion on how feminine their own little red cars are.

I'm a Mercedes lover and like the way the SLK looks but didn't seriously consider buying one because of its soft, disconnected handling. Because of that it is indeed considered a chick car.

i think on the mini..people assume its a chick car, regardless of its color, cuz everyone says "aww its soo cute"

so when the color is nice and bright, and the fact people think the car is cute, allows lot of people to "think" its a chick car

Speaking of it being a girl car...I just got into a huge fight about the MINI on another message board where everyone was saying it was a girl car.

In my travels, I have found, the guys who cast aspersions on your character ["Your car's a girl car"; "Your car's a *** color"; "You have a CVT, so you're queer"] are invariably hiding something. These are guys who, outwardly, are agressive, testosterone-pumped macho-men. Behind closed doors, they dance in front of the mirror in their mother's undergarments and go to prostitutes - named 'Timmy'. This is why we can laugh these clowns off; THEY are always the town deviants, and everyone is always so surprised. Except me.

The way I see it, what better way to pick up chicks than in a supposed "chick car."

Just because young single women spot a good deal on a sporty car, everyone wants to hang the term "womens car" on it. Case in point my last 2 cars, Miata and VW New Beetle. A report was realeased last year that of all the vehicles purchased by woman in the previous year these 2 top the list. 5 different people at work took the time to point this out to me. Did you know you are driving a womens car? When I went home my wife felt the need to point out the findings of the study to me as well. And then she asked why I buy "chicks" cars ??
I explained to her that I don't, I buy the best cars for what "we" can afford at that time, and that buying a cavalier or another Grand-AM or a used SUV/Pickup wouldn't make me more of man, just more miserable.

Adult women here are almost exclusively now driving SUV's, let's hope another study is released that reflects that.

If your ever cornered buy one of these mental midgets, and they ask "Do you know your driving a womens car? Tell them yes, "I am her kept man. She works and pays all the bills, does all my laundry. All I have to due is keep her pleased sexually, and I'll never work again" !!! And then before they can respond to that, say "what do you for a living ??? No matter what they say, just shrug your head and say "oh, I'm sorry to hear that, well we can't all be as lucky me. Hey I just gotta a booty call, see ya !!!!

Kept man?!

Yeah, I wish!

I think the flower vase may have played a small part in the Beetle becoming a "chick car" icon. I agree that most married-with-children women that I see are driving either minivans or SUV's.

As for the MINI being a chick car, that sure isn't the case around here (NC). It is owned across-the-board, but most are owned by men in the 35-55 age bracket.

See ya,
JS
