Just wondering if any of you guys have both the original Mini and a new MINI as well. Since we have been into Minis for 17+ years, and now have a 2003 Cooper I often wonder if other people are afflicted with a similar madness!

How many of you have a new MINI and would also like an old Mini?

How many have an old Mini and would like a new MINI?

Cheers,

I'm one of the nuts that drove Mini's for over thirty years, as well as several other BMC cars ... I really would like a New 1967 Morris Cooper S but they don't make 'em any more so i settled for the next best thing and got a new Cooper; I hate the idea of putting the old ones in a storage unit just to watch them rot, so i sold off all the oldies when the new one got here ... i am talking myself back into the idea of a Classic Mini again though ...

I had an 02 PS/Bl Cooper (#2 from MINI of Tampa Bay, #1 went to Orlando), I currently have an 03 PW/Bl Cooper, my wife just ordered a LY/Bl Cooper, I recently sold a 70 Mini Clubman 1380 Saloon, since 70 I've had a 60 Morris Mini Minor 850, 74 and 71 998 Saloons, a 67 P/U and I'm awaiting shipment on a 78 Clubman Estate from the UK. I guess you'd say I was MINIMAD!

hi there rachel. i have a 03 mcs. i am not old enough to have the original minis when they came out, but i have much appreciation for them. i am looking for a 67-73 mini for my dad. i want to give it to him for his 50th bday and 25th wedding anniversary, which is both this year. that was his first car, so i want to surprise him. but the classic minis are fetching 12K, and i cant afford that, and i dont think they are worth that much. sadly my good idea probably wont come into fruition

I'm fortunate enough to have two Classics and a New MIni now. 1960 Morris 850 with more than a few mods, a 1971 Cooper S MK3, and a 2002 MCS. Had the 60' Mini since 78'.

Red03miniS, what a sweet idea! How about a model of a Mini? Or, an RC Mini?I have to agree that original Minis are expensive, and sometimes rusty too. I know, believe me. Even if you cannot afford the whole car, just a token idea would be valued I'm sure!

Hotelcalif, I sent you a private message!

Cheers,
Rachel

I have never owned a classic Mini but I probably came very close in high school, if A, I could have found one in Pittsburgh in decent shape and B, been able to afford it. One of my sister's neighbors autocrossed Minis and his one kid drove a Cooper. Unfortunately for me, I went the other route from their example and bought an Opel GT. On the other hand, I am still among the living.

I have a bad habit of keeping my word on cars. I always said if Honda ever made a Civic coupe I would buy one. In 94, I made good on that... and in about 6-8 weeks, I'll be making good on my word on a new MINI.

I don't know if I would go back and buy a classic Mini now. I think I would be more inclined to find a Lotus 7 at that point. I expect my MCS to satisfy that itch quite adquately.

I'm a Gearheard - Have 3 Original Minis, a Countryman, a 998 Cooper, & a 1275 Cooper S. Now also have 2002 Cooper and Half-owner of 2003 S. Love 'em all. First car in 1970 was a 997 Cooper, sadly deceased. Lost count of all the Minis and other Britmobiles have messed with over the years. Also own resto project Honda S600 convertible - all aluminum 4-carb twincam roller-bearing 4 banger with a red line of 9,000 rpm!! - and last of the chain final drives. I love cars, I guess.

Hi Flygirl, I have old and new mini's now. My "old" mini I bought in 1972 and still drive it. I have had my new cooper 2 months now. It is very similar driving especially when you accelerate into a bend, the front just drags you round the corner at much higher speeds than other cars. i could bore you stiff about the original min if you wish. Regards
